Hello.Recently bought nitro v16.Very good specs, but didnt know it had battery drainage problem. While playing games such as R6,BF1 on performance mode, battery percentage is going down till 50% (10%/hour).On turbo mode it goes down even faster. Can someone please help.I think 135w charger is not sufficient. Thanks in advance

Hi Ramil2012! You're right — the Nitro V16 has great specs, but the battery drain during gaming is a known limitation.

🔋 Why It Happens The RTX GPU can draw up to 130W under full load. Combined with CPU and other components, this can exceed the 135W adapter’s capacity, especially in Turbo Mode. When that happens, the system pulls extra power from the battery — even while plugged in.

🔌 Important Note Many users tried using higher-wattage adapters (180W, 230W), but Acer advises against it. The issue isn’t the charger — it’s a design limitation in the power rail architecture. The system simply isn’t built to draw more than 135W externally.

🛠️ What You Can Do Instead of limiting CPU speed, you can adjust the Processor performance boost mode:

    1. Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Advanced Settings
    2. Expand Processor power management > Processor performance boost mode
    3. For “Plugged in,” select:
      • Efficient Enabled or
      • Disabled (if you want maximum battery protection)

This reduces aggressive power spikes without sacrificing too much performance. Here's a screenshot showing the setting:

📷 (You can find this under the Balanced power plan > Advanced settings > Processor power management.)

Also, in Windows Settings > Power & Battery, choose Best power efficiency mode while gaming on AC.

The Nitro V16 laptops has a 135W with a barrel plug that is 1.7 wide x 5.5mm long, so if you upgrade to a higher wattage adapter you need that adapter to have the same side barrel plug

You can try a higher wattage adapter like 230W above as its got the same barrel plug as your V16 laptop. But be aware that with allot of the Nitro V16 (don't know which exact model you have) going to a higher wattage adapter it didn't make a difference, this is a common problem with the Nitro V15 and V16 range of laptops. Have a look at the posts that have been posted on this same subject on the Acer community at SEARCH and put the exact V16 model laptop that you have and see if you can find a solution for this problem. Good luck and hope this helps out. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

If you can still change your Nitro laptop then change the laptop asap, as I would change it to the higher spec either Predator PH16-73 or the Predator Neo PHN16-73 as the Nitro ANV16 or ANV15 all have these adapter problems. Good luck.
