The battery is constantly at 0%. Orange button blinking. No charge is taken.

Sometimes, the battery status indicates it is fully charged, even though the device shuts down when unplugged.
Most of the time it shows as 0%

Should I change the battery, or should I explore other options first?

If a battery change is required. What provider should I consider ?

My warranty is expired.

    @Aldrik

Try resetting the battery: disable fast startup in power options, turn off the computer, unplug the power adapter, press the power button for thirty seconds and leave the computer off for half an hour.

    Open Device Manager.
    Expand "Batteries".
Right-click on the battery driver and select "Update Driver" or "Uninstall Device". If uninstalling, restart the laptop to allow Windows to reinstall the driver.

    Hi Aldrik,

Thanks for sharing your battery report. Based on the data, I believe your battery may no longer be functioning properly. Here’s why:

    • 1% wear and only 1 charge cycle over several years is highly unrealistic unless the laptop was never used — which doesn’t match your Windows install date in 2023.
    • The report shows no draining profile, meaning the system hasn’t registered any battery discharge events. This often indicates the battery is either disconnected, electronically failed, or the system is running exclusively on AC power.
    • There’s no estimated battery backup time listed, which Windows typically calculates based on recent usage. Its absence suggests the battery isn’t communicating properly with the system.

Given these signs, I recommend replacing the battery. It’s likely not functioning, and that could explain why your system isn’t switching to battery or showing accurate telemetry. Genuine AP18E7M AP18E8M Battery for Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315 AN517 AN715 | eBay

Your Predator Helios model PH315-54 laptop was first released in 2021 and its over 4 years old design, if you bought your laptop between 3-4 years ago, the battery could be affected or faulty, as these batteries efficiently last about max 4 years before they start giving problems in certain situations like you are experiencing.

Looking at your battery report, your battery capacities readings seem to be wrong, as the Design Capacity is showing huge numbers like 587,510 mWh when it should be showing something like 87,510 mWa and its the same with the Full Charge Capacity that is showing 581,350 mWa, as there must be something wrong with what your laptop is showing in regards to the battery charge. As an example, I've got a Predator Helios Neo PHN16-71 and its battery Design capacity is 90,614 mWa that is showing in my battery report, as its impossible that your battery Design Capacity is 581,350 mWa, so there must be something wrong with that battery.

What I suggest is this, you either take your laptop to a technician that has a tool similar to a NLBA1 PRO Laptop Battery Analyzer Tester Repair Charger or similar and can repair faulty batteries that are locked, as your existing battery even with its wrong charge readings, seems like it has plenty of charge and its like lost 8% of its Design Capacity, but it needs repairing and analysing by a technician to what is wrong with the charging phase of your PH315-54 laptop also, as its useless if he repairs the battery and your laptop is going to damage the battery again, its the same if you buy a new battery, as it will be the same to a new battery, so its up to you. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

Check your adapter charger also if its not faulty, as that could have damaged your laptop also. Below are the oem Acer supplied and fitted adapters and battery for your PH315-54 laptop
