My laptop Acer Aspire 7 A715 42G R4XX R5 5500U/8GB/256GB/4GB GTX1650/Win11 keeps disconnecting randomly after 5-10 minutes charging, fixed by plug and unplug the cable from wall socket to the charger brick (plug and unplug the charger inlet), problem keeps coming back, any fix please?

    Hi @AzureHecate 👋

Thanks for reporting the issue—intermittent disconnects while charging can definitely be frustrating. Since your A715-42G stabilizes temporarily after replugging the charger, here are two targeted steps you can try:

🔋 1. Full Charge Cycle Routine Let the battery drain completely until the laptop shuts off, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. Repeat once or twice. This recalibrates the battery controller and can help resolve erratic charging behavior.

🧰 2. Device Manager Cleanup Uninstall the two Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery drivers in Device Manager under “Batteries.” Right-click → Uninstall (don’t worry, Windows reinstalls them automatically after reboot). I’ll attach a screenshot to guide you through this.

Let us know if these steps help stabilize charging. Tag me @Puraw or use “Quote” so I can follow up.

An Aspire A715 laptop experiencing random charging disconnects every 5-10 minutes could be due to a few factors. Potential causes include a faulty battery, a problem with the charging port or cable, or even outdated drivers. Addressing these issues may involve checking the charger and its connection, updating drivers, and potentially calibrating the battery or seeking professional repair.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential causes and solutions:-
    1. Battery Issues:
Degrading battery: Laptop batteries have a limited lifespan and can degrade over time, leading to charging problems.
Battery calibration error: The laptop might be misinterpreting the battery's charge level.
Solution: Try fully charging the battery, then discharging it completely, and charging it again to 100% without interruption. If this doesn't help, the battery may need replacement.
    2. Charging Port and Cable Problems:
Loose or damaged charging port: The charging port on the laptop could be loose or damaged, causing intermittent connections.
Faulty charging cable or adapter: The charging cable or adapter might be damaged or not properly connected.
Solution: Carefully inspect the charging port for any debris or damage. Try a different compatible charger and cable to rule out issues with the original ones.
