Hi, Im having a problem that a program called AddlnProcess.exe using almost 100% of my GPU. When I tried to end the task of the program, it will start again in 10 seconds. I cant uninstall it. Also I dont have the Virus & Threat Protection option in my Window Security to scan for malware. What can I fix it without having to go to a repair shop?

Hi, given how AddlnProcess.exe keeps re-spawning, it’s likely tied to a background browser add-on or Acer pre-install. I’d suggest uninstalling Opera and Chrome fully, and switch to Edge for now — it’s leaner and plays nicer with Windows’ GPU allocation. If the issue clears up, it’s extension-related.

The AddinProcess.exe process consuming 100% GPU utilization is likely related to a .NET runtime environment and can be caused by various factors, including inefficient applications, high graphics settings, outdated drivers, or even malware. It's important to identify the root cause and address it to prevent performance issues and potential security risks.

Here's a breakdown of potential causes and troubleshooting steps:
    1. Identifying the Culprit:
Task Manager: Open Task Manager (right-click on the taskbar and select "Task Manager") and navigate to the "Performance" tab. Select "GPU" to view the GPU usage of all running processes.
Identify AddinProcess.exe: Locate AddinProcess.exe in the list and observe its GPU usage.
High Usage: If AddinProcess.exe is consistently using a high percentage of the GPU, even when not engaged in demanding tasks, further investigation is needed.
    2. Potential Causes:
    .NET Runtime Issues:
According to a Reddit user AddinProcess.exe is a .NET runtime component, and errors or inefficiencies within this runtime can lead to high GPU usage.
    Inefficient Applications:
Some applications, especially those with complex graphical interfaces or high graphics settings, may cause high GPU usage.
    Outdated Drivers:
Outdated or incorrect graphics drivers can cause performance issues, including excessive GPU usage.
Malware: While less likely, malware can sometimes disguise itself as legitimate processes like AddinProcess.exe and consume significant GPU resources.
