Hi Hkdc5692 — the AL15-51M is likely one of Acer’s India-specific builds, and these sometimes ship without the 2.5" SATA connector even if the chassis has space for it. It’s not a mistake—it’s part of a cost-optimized design focused on M.2 SSD support.

🔧 Here's what you can do:

    • Upgrade using a M.2 2280 SSD (check if your BIOS supports PCIe or SATA versions)
    • Use HWInfo64 or inspect BIOS settings to confirm your storage interface
    • If the SATA header is missing, there’s no safe way to add it—it’s a motherboard-level limitation

You’re not alone—other regional builds (especially in Southeast Asia and India) follow similar patterns. Acer models like the AL14 or AL15 series often streamline hardware for better thermals or pricing.

There are no specific parts listed for your Aspire AL15-51 laptop like a SATA cable, bracket and screws for the 2.5" drive by Acer for this laptop, but Acer lists a way to upgrade this drive and fit it into the laprop casing. So follow the below guide and get into contact with Acer India as they should have the SATA cable and HDD bracket and screws that are required to install this 2.5" HDD, btw I suggest that you upgrade to a 2.5" SATA III SSD drive also. Good luck.

This is the Acer AL15-51 HDD upgrade guide
