Hey Kofi, I’ve been helping folks navigate screen replacements for a while and there’s a recurring hiccup I’d love to spare you from.

Even with HWInfo and Panelook, it’s almost impossible to confirm whether your screen uses a 30-pin or 40-pin connector just from software tools. Acer sources panels from different manufacturers, and yes—even identical models can come with either pin count.

The most reliable method? Physically inspect the eDP connector on the motherboard. Pop the back cover off, disconnect the battery, and take a careful look at the connector going to the display. It’s usually labeled, or you’ll be able to count the pins directly or compare it to reference images.

Sure, AliExpress offers adapters and angle converters—but they’re not ideal, especially if you're already deep into a screen swap. Why gamble when it takes five minutes to open the case and know for sure?

Just be aware that the eDP cable at the motherboard has more pins on it than just the display connection, since things like the camera, mic and often sensors for screen position are routed through that cable.

@billsey so, the actual number of pins is at the back of the monitor itself and not on the motherboard, right?
