If your cursor will not move or your touchpad is not working at all:-

Remove connected devices - Remove all devices that are connected to the system except for the power cord. This includes external keyboard, mouse, flash drives, hard drives and other peripherals.

Enable/disable your touchpad - Many systems allow you to turn the touchpad On or Off by pressing a key combination. On most models it is FN + F7 or FN + F2, but could also be a different function key. The touchpad function key will be labeled with one of the images below.

Restart your computer - Restarting your system may help your touchpad start responding again.
Reset BIOS or UEFI to default settings - Some systems have touchpad settings in the BIOS/UEFI.

Reinstall touchpad drivers - Missing or incorrect drivers may cause your touchpad to not work properly. You can try downloading and installing the latest driver from our Acer Drivers and Manuals page. You may need to attach an external mouse to complete this process.

Restore Windows- Newer versions of Windows allow you to restore your operating system without losing your personal data. Make sure you select the option to Keep my files. If you can move your cursor but are having problems with cursor speed, erratic behavior or tapping and clicking.

Adjust touchpad sensitivity - If your cursor is moving too fast or too slow, you can try changing your touchpad sensitivity.

Disable tap to click - Accidentally making contact with the touchpad when typing can cause the cursor to jump around or leave the window

In Device Manager, uninstall all touchpad-related drivers, including hidden ones under "Human Interface Devices" and "Mice and other pointing devices." Restart your laptop to allow Windows to reinstall the default driver. Then, disable power-saving settings for the I2C HID device by unchecking “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” in its properties

Hi! Thanks for your input it is much appreciated however, I am still experienceing issures with my touchpad. I have identfied that it may be a corrupt driver namely Serial IO Host Controller 51E9 defined by Intel and expeience Code 10 for Intel Management Engine interface and Intel serial I/O I2C causing touch pad to not work. The "Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - 51E9" is a device driver as you know that enables communication between the Acer Aspire S32 and I2C devices. To find the correct driver, I am advised to visit Acer's support website and search for the specific model, then download the driver from the "Chipset" or "Device Drivers" section. Having visited Acer which is even more confusing as I am presented with drivers as follows 1. Add for new touchpad 2022/05/11 . 2. Add Touchpad CPPN259N Touchpad PNP. ID 2022/09/23. and a couple more. But advised to download If you're unsure about the exact model, to try downloading it directly from Intel. But before installing the Touchpad driver, I should install the Serial I/O driver first. I must admit this is very confusing, can you please advise, what I should download as I do not wish to kill a great computer. Many Thanks. Tony

Hey Tony, After uninstalling the touchpad driver from Device Manager, head over to Acer’s official support website and download the latest touchpad driver for your exact Aspire 3 model. Install it manually and restart your laptop. Also, while you're at it, try entering the BIOS by pressing F2 during startup, look for the touchpad setting and make sure it’s set to “Advanced” (not “Basic”), then save and exit. That usually helps Windows detect and reinstall the correct driver. Hope this gets it working again!

Hi, boot to BIOS with F2 and verify that Touchpad is set to 12C HID and not PS/2, change that and save changes with F10. Boot to Windows and uninstall the 12C HID device in Device Manager-Human Interface Devices. Just reboot and Windows will reinstall MS Precision drivers. If still no results Reinstall (Recovery) Windows without losing your data, in Windows11 this feature looks like this:
