Large gaming laptops use 3-wire power adapters/AC plugs that require a proper grounded 3-pin electrical wall outlet, if you use a 2-pin plug adapter in a non-grounded wall outlet you may hear some Coil Whining, try to reverse the polarity by tuning the 2-pin plug 180 degrees (not possible in the States as the 2 pins are different in size) the coil whining may stop. Using a grounded 3-pin plug and wall socket is always recommended but there will be no detrimental effects with a 2-wire plug.

A buzzing sound from a laptop adapter, even if faint, can be normal due to coil whine, but should be monitored for changes or increases in noise. This buzzing is often caused by vibrations in the transformer or other components within the adapter as it converts electricity. If the buzzing changes, becomes louder, or is accompanied by heat, it could indicate a problem that needs attention.

    Understanding the Buzz:
    Coil Whine:
This is a common phenomenon where components like transformers or inductors vibrate at specific frequencies when electricity flows through them. These vibrations can be audible as a buzzing or whining sound according to Vocal.
    Normal vs. Abnormal:
A faint, consistent buzz is often within the normal range of operation for laptop chargers. However, if the buzzing becomes louder, changes pitch, or is accompanied by excessive heat or other unusual behavior, it could indicate a potential issue.
    Possible Causes:
Besides coil whine, other potential causes include loose components within the adapter, damaged wiring, or issues with the electrical outlet.
    What to Do:
    1. Monitor the Sound:
Pay attention to the sound over time. If it remains faint and consistent, it's likely normal.
    2. Check for Changes:
If the buzzing sound gets louder, changes pitch, or is accompanied by heat, take note.
    3. Inspect the Adapter:
Examine the adapter and its cables for any signs of physical damage, such as exposed wires or loose connections.
    4. Try Different Outlets:
Plug the adapter into a few different electrical outlets to see if the sound changes.
