My Acer Care Centre says my battery health requires attention, and I've noticed recently that the battery gets charged up and runs out much faster than normal (Under 2 hours of use). What can I do to fix this?

Hi, I'd recommend flashing BIOS v1.30 (2025/06/05)—the latest release includes power management updates that may help stabilize erratic charge behavior. With 60% battery wear and just 1h22m runtime, a replacement battery seems overdue. If you're still on Windows 11 23H2, upgrading to 24H2 could improve telemetry accuracy and charging logic. Also worth noting: if the battery history only starts from 2024 despite the machine being from 2022, it's likely the OS was reinstalled or the battery was replaced with one that’s already showing failure signs. This link is for a good battery for your laptop: Acer Aspire 5 (A514-55) original Battery 50.29Wh - sparepartworld.com they also list a cheap Chinese battery that I don't advise.

Hi, I don't recommend using Acer care Center for battery monitoring but to use Windows Battery Report: Paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, press Ctrl + P or right click and select "Print to Microsoft PDF", attach the report to your reply, type @Puraw or use "Quote" when you reply so I will get an alert.

If your Acer Aspire 5's battery is charging quickly but also draining much faster than normal, it could be due to a few factors. Common culprits include excessive background app activity, incorrect power settings, high screen brightness, or a failing battery. To address this, you can adjust power settings, close unnecessary background apps, lower screen brightness, and potentially check your battery's health.
    Here's a more detailed breakdown:-

    1. Check Background Processes and Power Settings:
    Background Apps:
Too many apps running in the background can significantly drain the battery. Use Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) to identify and close any unnecessary programs.
    Power Settings:
Ensure your power plan is set to a battery-saving mode (e.g., "Power Saver" or "Balanced").
    Screen Brightness:
High screen brightness consumes a lot of power. Lowering the brightness or enabling adaptive brightness can help.
    2. Battery Health and Usage:
    Battery Health:
Over time, batteries naturally degrade. You can check the battery's health using built-in diagnostics or third-party tools. A battery report can reveal its capacity and usage patterns.

    Usage Patterns:
Consider if you've recently changed your usage habits. Running power-intensive applications (like video editing software or games) or using a backlit keyboard extensively can accelerate battery drain.
    Charging Habits:
While it's generally recommended to avoid fully discharging and charging the battery frequently, completely draining and recharging it can sometimes help calibrate the battery's reporting.
    3. Other Potential Issues:
    Outdated Drivers:
Ensure your system drivers, especially for the graphics card and chipset, are up to date, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause battery issues.
    Hardware Issues:
In some cases, hardware malfunctions can lead to excessive battery drain. If you suspect a hardware problem, it's best to consult a technician.
