I have an Acer Swift 3 that's approximately two years old. It's had this problem for a long time, which could only be "solved" by forcing a shutdown directly with the power button.

Now the problem has returned. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what this issue might be, and what the solution is?

Hi @Jose_Eduardo_Falcon First of all, have you been able to try using an external monitor to rule out the problem not being with the graphics card?

An Acer Swift 3 freezing can stem from various software and hardware issues. Common causes include overheating, driver conflicts, or background processes interfering with system performance. To address this, try a hard reset, update drivers, and check for overheating or faulty hardware.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential solutions:-

    1. Hard Reset:
    Power Drain:
Shut down the laptop completely, unplug all peripherals, and disconnect the power adapter. Press and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds to drain any residual power
    Reassemble and Restart:
Reconnect the power adapter and battery (if applicable), then turn the laptop on.
    2. Driver Updates:
Outdated or Corrupted Drivers: Ensure your graphics, chipset, and other drivers are up to date.
Update via Device Manager: Go to Device Manager (search for it in the Start Menu), find the device you want to update, right-click, and select "Update driver".
Intel Driver & Support Assistant: Use the Intel Driver & Support Assistant to automatically scan and update Intel drivers, says a user on the Acer Community.

    3. Check for Overheating:
Monitor CPU Temperature: Use a utility that displays CPU temperature (e.g., Acer Care Center or Windows diagnostics) to see if the laptop is overheating.
Improve Cooling: Ensure proper ventilation and consider using a laptop cooler if necessary.
    4. Check for Background Processes:
Task Manager: Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) to see which processes are consuming high CPU or memory.
Disable Startup Programs: Disable unnecessary programs from starting up with Windows to reduce load.
    5. Check Power Settings:
    Power Options:
Go to Control Panel > Power Options and adjust settings to avoid conflicts when locking or going to sleep.
Processor Power Management: In advanced power settings, you can adjust the processor's power management, including cooling policy, according to the Acer Community.
    6. Other Potential Issues:
Malware: Run a virus scan to rule out malware infections.
Hardware Issues: If the problem persists, it could be a hardware issue (e.g., faulty RAM, hard drive, or motherboard). In such cases, it's best to seek professional help
