As per title, despite every setting i make in the power section, the screen is not turning off after the specified timeout setting.

I wonder if there is an hidden acer software setting preventing the shut off.

Everything was normal until yesterday..

Hi, this means a driver or process won't shutdown, you can check in Task Manager which process is still running after you run the command: shutdown /s /f /t 0 or you can force (abort) the shutdown with the Windows command taskkill /f /f /im *

When you located the rogue task you can uninstall that program or disable the service in Window Services (Properties-Startup type).

the problem is not during shut down but during idle when i want my screen to turn off while the computer is still on.

Start by going to Settings → System → Power & Battery → Screen and sleep, and set appropriate timeouts for both battery and plugged-in modes. If the issue persists, open Control Panel → Power Options and create a new power plan with your preferred timeout. After creating the plan, click Change advanced power settings. Under the Sleep category, set Allow wake timers to Disabled. Then go to USB settings and set USB selective suspend to Disabled. These settings help ensure background devices or events don’t block the screen timeout.
