hi there

I have added a M.2 SSD 256 GB

To the laptop

It doesn’t recognize it in the bios

but I can add it as a storage drive in “Manage storage “

It is present in device manager

I still have the problem of the main drive with 64 g storage on the eMMC drive on the motherboard
I would like to reset and add windows and all program to the new drive

Is this possible?

Hi, The Acer Swift SF113-31 supports only one active storage boot path at a time, and the eMMC is soldered directly to the motherboard, making it the system’s default boot device. This setup can cause the BIOS to ignore or not list the M.2 SATA SSD, even if Windows can detect it later as a secondary drive. Some users have successfully cloned the eMMC to the M.2 SATA SSD, then disabled the eMMC in BIOS (if the option exists) or used boot manager tricks to boot from the SSD. Note that the M.2 slot in this model supports only SATA SSDs, not NVMe, so even if the slot is physically compatible, NVMe drives won’t be recognized.

This laptop only works with an M.2 SATA III type drive and does not work with a PCIe 3 M.2 type drive, make sure that your new 256GB M.2 SSD drive is an interface: SATA III (6Gb/s) B&M (with twin slots) end key type drive, also make sure that after you have inserted this drive into its slot, you go to Disk Management > right click this drive and initialise the drive and then > format the drive and give it an appropriate drive letter that comes up in Disk Management like "D", as then windows will recognize this drive in "File Explorer as D drive". that is all that you have to do for this drive to be recognized.

The below list are all the manufacturers and types of drives that Acer lists in the Swift SF113-31 model laptops service guide which was listed in 2018, Acer lists up to a 256GB capacity but this is an old 2018 M.2 drive list, so be aware that this laptop will also work with a 512GB, 1TB or the 2TB WD Red 2TB M.2 2280 SA500 NAS SATA SSD WDS200T1R0B capacities, if you can still get them. Good luck and hope this helps you out further. WD Red 2TB M.2 2280 SA500 NAS SATA SSD WDS200T1R0B
