Hey so im dumb and I accidentally uninstalled my Nvidia drivers from the control panel. It still shows up ( when show hidden items is selected) but whenever I try and re download the drivers it wont be let install them because it says I dont have the GPU.

I see error code 45 on the control panel under my inactive driver. I have seen on forums something about running ddu in safe mode, but what is ddu really how do I run it? I found one to download and i got a compressed folder but nothing happens when I extract the file.

I have no clue what im doing, if anyone could help that would be great!

I have the Acer Nitro 5.

Use DDU and reinstall your GPU driver from the Nvidia software site. DDU instructions are given in Step 1 of the guide below.

Error code 45 in an Acer Nitro 5, as indicated in Device Manager, usually means a hardware device that was previously connected to the computer is no longer connected. This often applies to Bluetooth or Wi-Fi adapters. To resolve it, try reconnecting the device, checking for Windows updates, and potentially reinstalling or updating the device drivers.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of the issue and potential solutions:-

    Understanding Error Code 45
Disconnected Device: The primary cause is the device being physically disconnected or not properly seated.
Driver Issues: Outdated or corrupted drivers can also trigger this error, even if the device is connected.
Hardware Problems: In some cases, hardware malfunctions might lead to the error.
    Troubleshooting Steps
    1. Reconnect the Device:
If it's a USB device, unplug and plug it back in. For internal devices (like Wi-Fi cards), ensure they are properly seated.
    2. Check for Windows Updates:
Make sure your system is up-to-date, as updates can include driver fixes.
    3. Update/Reinstall Drivers:
Go to Device Manager, locate the device, and right-click to update the driver.
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling the driver and restarting your computer. Windows will attempt to reinstall it.
Alternatively, visit the manufacturer's website (e.g., Intel for Wi-Fi, NVIDIA for graphics) for the latest drivers.
    4. Clean Installation of Drivers (Advanced):
Use tools like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove old drivers before installing new ones.
    5. Check BIOS Settings:
In some cases, the device might be disabled in the BIOS. Verify that it's enabled (e.g., for graphics cards, check if it's set to Auto or PEG/PCIe).
    6. Hardware Issues:
If the problem persists after trying the above steps, there could be a hardware problem with the device itself. Consider testing with a different device or contacting Acer support.

You accidentally uninstalled your NVIDIA drivers on your Acer Nitro 5, and now Windows shows error code 45, saying the GPU isn’t connected. This happens when the system loses proper driver linkage. To fix it, use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode to fully remove broken driver traces. Then reboot and let Windows reinstall a basic driver or manually install the correct one from NVIDIA’s website.
