Installed Quadro P620, now no display from GPU or onboard, and drivers say no GPU found

Hi Acer Community,

I am trying to install Quadro P620, but hitting a snag.

I downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers as advised by the technical support; however, when I try to install them, it says no GPU found (fair enough).

So after I install the GPU but the screen goes blank, and the onboard graphics also does not kick in, so basically I dont get any display.

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Thanks

What exact model desktop or PC are you trying to install the Quadro P620 gpu into, as that PC needs to have the latest bios and all firmware applicable installed for that mobo. Also, make sure that you have the correct driver for the NVIDIA® QUADRO® P620 gpu, for either Win-10 or Win-11, try these Driver Version list for the Quadro Series and the last version from that page which is version: R570 U6 (573.42) or use the older version drivers and see if that recognizes the gpu as that is critical that you get correct.

See the exact specs of the Quadro P620 in the below PDF and make sure that the your desktop has the appropriate PCI X16 port and its working correctly, as its unusual that this card does nt work and it disables the cpu graphics also. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

    @StevenGen Thanks Steve.

I have an Acer Veriton VX6680_E… I tried to install the driver first, but it asked to install the GPU first, which is fair enough… I then installed the GPU, but I got no display… not even with the onboard graphics. I reckon the system switches to the GPU mode as soon as it recognises the card. I have already updated the BIOS from the Acer website to R01-B1.

It seems like the system would only work with either the GPU or the onboard graphics; it would not utilise both, as the BIOS has no option to turn on the multi-monitor.

    Please advise.

    Thanks

Your Veriton VN6680G or VN6680GT desktop has the below specified "System Features" which lists the Quatro P620 card as suitable with this desktop in its service guide with all the cpu's with their integrated Intel® UHD Graphics 750 graphics, so your Quadro P620 should work with these cpu's if their graphics are disabled in bios (see below guide).

Also and with the Quatro P620 card, use the Acer oem and initial VGA Driver(NVIDIA Quadro) - version 30.0.15.1179 and install this driver and then install the NVidia App for further updates appropriate for your Veriton VN6680G desktop that NVidia updates it to, also, see the bios settings below as you need to Disable the Onboard Graphics Controller for the Quadro P620 card to work and be the only graphics that works on your desktop, as its conflicting with the cpu graphics and that is why its not working.

Make sure that you have the bios settings at Advanced > Onboard Graphics Controller > DISABLED > as this settings "Shows status information on the Onboard GraphicsController" which should be DISABLED if you have the Quadro P620 card installed and then the P620 card will work as your desktops graphics. Good luck and hope this helps you out, as it should solve your problem.

    Thanks for your reply.

I do not have a BIOS display like the one you showed above; my BIOS display is old school, that blue and grey screen… and the Video Output option is disabled (blacked out), and I cannot make any changes. And based on the Acer website, my BIOS is up to date with the last update R01-B1… not sure if I have to update something else to have the display like the above.

I also downloaded that NVIDIA Quadro driver, but when I try to install it, it says that it is not compatible with the current version of Windows. (I have Windows 11 PRO - 24H2). I then downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers from their website, and I hit install. It is looking for a GPU; however, when I install the GPU, the screen goes blank… I cannot do anything… So I removed the GPU, and the system works fine.

    thanks

If that is the case with your VN6680 model desktop board, is that your old board that your Veriton 6680 has is not designed to have a dedicated gpu card like the Quatro P620 installed and its only designed for the cpu integrated graphics and can't be changed. Or change the mainboard listed below, as these are all the mainboards that the Veriton 6680 desktop came with, as these boards bios will have the setting to change the onboard graphics controller.

Note: Another and alterative and risky thing to do (which I don't recommend) is to change the oem cpu with integrated graphics to an 11th Gen Intel CPU with the end suffixes F or KF in their name that do not have integrated graphics as that might allow your Veriton  6680 desktops board to be fitted with a Quatro P620 card,

These model boards listed below for the Veriton VN4680G (GT) desktops were also fitted in your model Veriton VN6680G (GT) models desktops, so be aware of this. Look at your board and see if its any of the model boards below, as you might have an early released board that does not have provisions for an external gpu card into its PCI X16 slot for the Quatro P620 card and you can't fit this eternal card. good luck and hope this helps you out some more.

    Thanks for your reply.

My desktop is VX66680_E (enterprise), but not VN6680 … having two PCIx 16 slots, I reckon it should be compatible, but not sure if settings are locked or something because of the enterprise edition. It is probably only able to access 1 GPU at the moment; however, there should be a way to have a multiple monitor setup, but I reckon the BIOS is locked, maybe.

    My Pc Details:

    Veriton X6680G_E, Chipset: Q570, BIOS: R01-B1, CPU: I5-11500, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVME, 2TB HDD.

    thanks

OK, now I've got the correct desktop model "Finally" which comes up as the Veriton desktop released on the 2021/06/15 and its the Veriton X6680G with the Q570 chipset and the 11th Gen cpu's, which its bios has a setting for the graphics in BIOS > Advanced > Video Output Discreet and Onboard Graphics Controller Disabled, like its shown below. The i5-11500 has an integrated Intel® UHD Graphics 750 graphics and the below bios settings need to disable this graphics settings for the Quatro P620 card to work.

Note: that the only Acer listed gpu card compatible with this desktop is the NVidia GEFORCE GT 730 - 2GB DDR3 - 64B - 900MHz card and Acer does not list the Quatro P620 as being compatible, so maybe you would be advised to use that gpu or similar gpu's.

This desktop Acer does not list the i5-11500 cpu but it lists the i5-11400 cpu

With the BIOS - if you don't have these settings active in bios, then its the same story, that your board can't have a discrete gpu card, as these bios settings can't be changed with a bios update, as its pre set by Acer.

This is the mainboard for the your Veriton models:

    Thanks for your reply.

I have a slightly different MOBO than you listed above, please see below, I do have 2 PCI x16, 1 PCIe1X, and one of the old-fashioned 32-bit PCI…:

    MOBO1.jpg MOBO2.jpg

And the bios is as below:

    BIOS.jpg

I cannot make any changes to the Video Output and Onboard Graphics Controller. I can only update the one in blue. And I dont understand why?

I am sure, and I hope there is a way out, because this GPU is compatible with almost every PC… I dont know if it's the cable connection or some BIOS settings, but my understanding is that if the Onboard Graphics Controller is enabled, then it should switch to the GPU mode.

I dont understand having all those options available and not being able to utilise one would be such a downer.

    Thanks

When you install a GPU into the PCIe x16 slot, the BIOS recognizes it is there and disabled the onboard video in favor of the new GPU. Do you have your monitor still attached to the motherboard ports, or did you move to the new card?
