My Chromebook Spin 714 no longer charges the battery, even when using the original power adapter. In the diagnostics app, the current drops from approximately 500 mA to 0 mA when the power adapter is plugged in. The battery is apparently no longer charging. The battery level indicator also doesn't change or increase. The battery status indicator shows -127%. Charging cycles are displayed as "4."

If your Acer Chromebook Spin 714 is not charging, start by checking the power connection, inspecting the charging cable and adapter for damage, and trying a different power outlet. If these basic checks don't resolve the issue, try a hard reset by disconnecting the charger, holding the power button for 10 seconds, and then reconnecting. If the problem persists, it could be a deeper issue with the battery or charging circuitry, potentially requiring professional repair.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:
    1. Basic Checks:
    Power Connection:
Ensure the charger is securely plugged into both the Chromebook and a functioning power outlet.
    Cable and Adapter:
Visually inspect the charging cable and adapter for any signs of damage (frayed wires, loose connections).
    Power Outlet:
Try a different power outlet to rule out a faulty outlet.
    Charging Indicator:
Check if the charging indicator light (if present) illuminates when the charger is connected.
    2. Hard Reset:
Disconnect: Unplug the charger from both the Chromebook and the power outlet.
Hold Power Button: Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds.
Reconnect: Plug the charger back in and see if the Chromebook begins to charge.
    3. Battery and Charging Circuitry:
    Deep Discharge:
If the battery is deeply discharged, it may take some time to start charging. Allow it to charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on.

    Battery Health:
If accessible, check the battery health via the Chromebook's system diagnostics (often found under Settings > About Chrome OS > Diagnostics).
    Professional Repair:
If the problem persists after these steps, it's likely an issue with the battery or charging circuitry, and you should seek professional repair or contact the manufacturer for warranty or repair options.
    4. Additional Tips:
    Clean the Charging Port:
Dust or debris can interfere with the charging connection. Gently clean the port with a soft brush or compressed air.
    Try a Different Charger:
If you have access to another compatible charger, try using it to rule out a faulty charger.
    Consult the Manufacturer:
If you're still experiencing issues, contact Acer support or your place of purchase for further assistance.
