Hi, this is a 2023 model laptop so the battery should be still OK, could be the charger or a bad DC barrel plug connection, make sure the plug is fully inserted in the laptop slot till you hear a click. Try another adapter. Update BIOS and Windows. If nothing helps run a battery report, paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, press Ctrl + P or right click and select "Print to Microsoft PDF", attach the report to your reply, type @Puraw or use "Quote" when you reply so I will get an alert.

If your Aspire 3 Spin 14 charges only when turned off, reset power management settings in Control Panel > Power Options, selecting Balanced and restoring defaults. Then, update battery drivers in Device Manager > Batteries by selecting Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and choosing Update driver.

If the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 laptop's battery isn't charging when turned on, it could be due to a few reasons, including a faulty charger, a loose or damaged charging port, or an issue with the battery itself. Start by checking the power cable and adapter for any damage and ensuring they are securely connected. If the issue persists, try a different power outlet and consider cleaning the charging port for potential debris.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential causes and troubleshooting steps:
    1. Check the Power Adapter and Cable:
    Visual Inspection:
Examine the power adapter and cable for any signs of damage like frayed wires, cracks, or bent pins.
    Secure Connection:
Ensure the power adapter is firmly plugged into both the laptop and the wall outlet.
    Try a Different Outlet:
If the laptop still doesn't charge, try plugging the adapter into a different power outlet to rule out a faulty socket.
    2. Inspect the Charging Port:
Visual Check: Use a flashlight to inspect the charging port for any debris, dust, or signs of damage.
Cleaning: Gently clean the port with a toothpick or cotton swab (if needed), being careful not to damage it. Secure Connection: Ensure the charging cable is inserted correctly and snugly into the port.

    3. Battery Issues:
    Battery Health:
A failing battery may not hold a charge or charge properly. Consider checking the battery health using Acer's Care Center software or third-party tools.
    Reset Battery:
Some Acer laptops have a battery reset pinhole that can be accessed with a paperclip. Consult your laptop's manual for instructions on how to perform a battery reset.

    4. Software and Other Factors:
    Driver Issues:
Outdated or corrupted battery drivers can sometimes prevent charging. Check for updated drivers in Device Manager.
    External Devices:
Disconnect any external devices (like USB drives, monitors, etc.) that might be drawing power.

    BIOS Settings:
In rare cases, incorrect BIOS settings might affect charging. Refer to your laptop's manual for instructions on accessing and resetting the BIOS.
    5. Seek Professional Help:
If the problem persists after trying these steps, it's recommended to consult with an authorized Acer service center or a qualified technician for further diagnosis and repair.

Thank you all for your help. I figured out the problem is with the charging adaptor itself. the one provided with the device was not the original one. It is a 45.1W with output 19.0V / 2.37 A. I tried another one 65W with output 2.0V / 3.25A and it worked well.

    regards.
