I would like to know if the Predator Helios Neo i9-14900HX, Nvidia RTX 4070 (PHN16-72-99MY) supports upgrade up to 64GB RAM (2x 32GB)? I can't find this information anywhere officially.

Another upgrade that I'm interested in is a 2TB (or 4TB) NV Me SSD. Is the notebook compatible? What would be the most reliable brands/models for upgrading both RAM and storage?

The Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-72) supports DDR5 RAM, including 16GB modules at 5600MHz and typically supports up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM. Yes, your Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-72-99MY) is compatible with NVMe SSDs up to 4TB

Yes, your Predator Helios Neo PHN16-72-99MY model works 100% with 64GB total ram @ 2x 32B DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 (as all the PHN16-71 and 72 models do) I'm using the PHN16-71 with 64GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram as I'm writing this thread, as my PHN16-71 13th Gen cpu is limited to this speed ram, I'm using the ram from Crucial which is a Micron base ram as your PHN16-72-99MY will also support 64GB DDR5-5600MT/s type ram and even more, as ram is governed by the cpu limit, especially in these DDR5 ram models.

Have a look at Crucial Ram PHNN16-72 ram and SSD upgrade guide and use that ram (don't worry that this is for the PHN16-72-99PM as they are all compatible with 64 GB ram) as these laptops are compatible with more ram as some users have run these laptops on 96GB ram @ 2x 48Gb DDR5-5600MT/s CL 46 or 2x 48GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram and even 128GB at 2x 64GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 that are available from Crucial, but if you want to run these laptops on that much ram, you do so at your own risk as I can't guarantee that Acers mobos and bios support that much ram. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

For your information, this is my PHN16-71 Task Manager > Memory > 4800MT/s Speed fitted with 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 Crucial type ram.

I have put 64GB Kingstone in my PHN16-72, lets see.
    Kingston fury DDR 5600ts CL40 40 40 1.1 PnP
    Works without issues…….

Weird metal plat that was upon the RAM, but….. got it sorted and clipped it in those small clips again. Someone talked about it might take some time for it to sort out the RAM, but no wait time at all.

On the harddrive aspect I am somewhat annoyed that it does not have a screw for the smaller hard drive length as I saw in video's - so might need to do some hack the planet for that or buy a longer harddrive.
Might just hack the planet, have been thinking of taking the RAM plastic that is anti static and make something out of that to keep the harddrive down from the screw. If it works, it works….. But I am still thinking it over.

do you mind sharing a print of CPUZ in the memory section? hwinfo also works and the task manager

I bought one kit from adata only to find out the BIOS limits the clock to 5200, and I want to see if it does the same on kingston

Hey pvitor993, I don't know what ADATA type ram you bought, but you must have bough an incompatible ram CL type and that is why its being downclocked to 5200MT/s ram speed.

If you have the Predator Helios Neo model PHN16-72 laptop that is fitted with the Intel 14th Gen i5/i7 or i9 cpu's, they all run with the maximum speed DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram, as the ram speed is limited by the Intel 14th Gen cpu memory design. I recommend using either Crucial Micron ram, or Kingston or Mushkin type ram kits of 64GB or 96GB and even 128GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram. Good luck.

Btw: I've got the previous PHN16-71 13th Gen cpu model laptop and I'm running 64GB at 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram which is the max compatible speed ram for the i5/i7 13th Gen cpu's and the 13th Gen i9 can use the DDR5-5600MT/s CL56 type ram, and my PHN16-71 works perfectly with out any crasher or BSODS.

thanks for the reply, it was an Adata XPG, 32GB, 5600MHz, DDR5, CL46 - AD5S560032G-S

in theory it shold work, but from my research it might be the BIOS downclocking the modules

Maybe the ADATA ram construction is not an approved ram that works with the Acer PHN16-72 laptop as the bios should NOT be downclocking ram if its the specified and the proper DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram that works with other manufacturers ram to the lower 5200MT/s speed.

Try the memory manufactures below like Kingston, Samsung or SK Hynix ram that Acer has tested the PHN16-72 laptop with and they recommend that you use. I also suggest that you upgrade the ram to a min capacity of 64GB, as these laptops revel on high ram even as high as 96GB or even a 128GB kits (their Intel designed cpu's max ram capacity is 192GB) so look at their sites and see what ram models they have, as your PHN16-72 should be operating with a min 32GB kit but preferably higher ram capacity like 64GB, as that is what I'm using in my PHN16-71 with its i5-13500HX cpu DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram, and my laptop works perfectly, it portae's allot cooler and cherishes this high capacity ram, so I suggest that you do the same. Good luck.
