Hey All

Just wondering if anyone else has an issue with the P18-73 RAM speed. I have the RTX 5080 model with 64GB DDR5 RAM and it runs at 4400 MT/s. I have tried different slots or just using one stick and it's always 4400.

Acer's own press release states up to 196GB RAM at 6400 MT/s -

For some reason the site decided I was finshed and edit isn't working, so I'll start again.

    Hey All

Just wondering if anyone else has an issue with the P18-73 RAM speed. I have the RTX 5080 model with 64GB DDR5 RAM and it runs at 4400 MT/s. I have tried different slots or just using one stick and it's always 4400.

Acer's own press release states up to 196GB RAM at 6400 MT/s - See specs for the Helios 18 AI in the link below

Predator Helios AI Laptops with New Intel Core Ultra Processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series — Acer Community

I have a two-year-old PH18-71 which has 5600 MT/s DDR5 RAM installed and it runs at 5600 MT/s with 32GB and 5200 MT/s with 64GB, so why would Acer go backwards with RAM speed with a model two generations later? It's baffling.

The RAM installed in my PH18-73 is only 5600 MT/s which I find annoying to begin with, having been lied to in the press release👺. Did Acer decide to save a few bucks last minute?

It really is completely baffling with they would upgrade the CPU, Graphics Card, and NVMe to PCIe 5.0, btu then go backwards wth the RAM.

Any information would be much appreciated.

    Cheers
    Mick

    Hello Mick!

I got the same laptop 2 days ago, and i have a same problem like you. Memory only runs at 4400 Mhz. The bios also shows the same speed. Please if somebody knows the solution, let us know.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

I believe that's possible that future firmware updates for Predator PH18-73 may improve compatibility and stability DDR5 at higher speeds.

Current firmware version is 1.08 (2025/05/29):

The new Predator Helios PH18-73 is fitted with the new Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 Processors like the 275HK cpu which determines the max memory capacity and the memory speed, which the Intel design for the Intel Core Ultra 9 cpu's is memory speed is up to DDR5-6400 MT/s and max capacity is 256GB for this cpu, but Acer must have limited it to 196GB and at this point in time to DDR5-4400MT/s speed..

You need to wait until Acer releases future bios updates for the memory speed to be increased to its max deigned speed, be aware that Acer might not allow your PH18-73 mainboard through its bios to reach this high speed like 6400MT/s like they have done to the memory capacity limiting it to 196GB max.

make sure that you install the last bios version 1.08 for your PH18-73 laptop, which also fixes the [Nvidia GPU only] display mode issue, and wait for the next bios update that Acer has for your PH18-73 model, as it could change and allows a higher memory speed, so make sure that you update every bios update from now on to your laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.
