    Do this:

If your laptop does not have a reset pinhole, make sure the laptop is shut down. Then, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and release it. Repeat this process two more times.

    Now turn on and check

Lagging issues on an Acer Aspire 5 with an i5 10th gen, even when plugged in, could stem from several factors including throttling, overheating, or software conflicts. To troubleshoot, start by ensuring you're using the correct power adapter, checking power options, and updating drivers, according to some forum users. You might also consider using a performance monitoring tool to identify any resource bottlenecks. Here's a more detailed breakdown:

    1. Throttling:

    • What it is:Your laptop might be throttling the CPU and GPU, reducing performance to conserve power.
    • When it happens:This often occurs when the battery is low, even when plugged in, because the system prioritizes charging over full performance.
    • How to fix:Ensure the battery is always fully charged or consider disabling battery optimization features that limit charge.

    2. Overheating:

    • What it is:If your laptop gets too hot, it can trigger thermal throttling, reducing performance to protect components.
    • How to fix:Make sure your laptop has good ventilation, consider using a laptop cooler, and check the temperature of your components.

    3. Power Options:

    • What to check:Ensure your laptop's power plan is set to "High performance" when plugged in.
    • How to change:Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional power settings and select the desired plan.

    4. Software Conflicts:

    • What to do:Run a virus scan and check for any conflicting software or background processes that might be consuming resources.
    • How to diagnose:Use a task manager to identify which processes are using the most resources.

    5. Drivers:

    • What to do:Update your graphics drivers and chipset drivers to the latest versions from Acer's website or the manufacturer's website.
    • How to update:Go to the device manager and update drivers for your graphics card and chipset.

    6. Battery Health:

    • What to check:If your battery is severely degraded, it could affect performance, even when plugged in.
    • How to test:You can check your battery health using the Acer Care Center software or Windows power report.

    7. BIOS:

    • What to do: Ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version.
    • How to update: Download the latest BIOS from Acer's website and follow the instructions provided.

    8. Resetting the Laptop:

    • What to do: You can try resetting your laptop to factory settings or performing a system restore to resolve software issues.
