Yes ,you can use the computer without the battery, but the charger should always be plugged in.

But make sure you fix the laptop as soon as possible.

While sparking can be normal when connecting a battery due to a momentary surge of current, using a device without a battery can be dangerous. The device may not operate correctly, damage components, or lead to unexpected failures.

Here's why sparking and operating without a battery can be problematic:
    Sparking:
A small spark is often normal when connecting a battery, particularly if there's a load on the circuit. However, large sparks or continuous sparking can indicate a problem, such as a loose connection or a short circuit, and should be addressed.
    Operating without a battery:
Many devices rely on the battery to provide a stable power source and to keep certain components (like the car's computer) powered even when the engine is off. Without a battery, the device may not operate properly or could damage its components.
    Safety concerns:
Operating a device without a battery can put a strain on other components, like the alternator, potentially leading to premature failure or other damage.
What to do if you experience sparking:
Check connections: Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
Look for shorts: Make sure nothing is bridging the positive and negative terminals.
Consider a spark suppressor: A spark suppressor can help mitigate the initial surge of current.
Replace the battery: If the sparking is persistent or severe, it could be a sign of a faulty battery or other issue.
In conclusion, while a small spark upon connection can be normal, operating a device without a battery is not recommended due to the potential for damage and instability. If you experience significant sparking, address the issue promptly to ensure the safety and proper functioning of your device.

Using your laptop without the battery can be a temporary workaround, but there are some safety and reliability concerns you should be aware of, especially given the sparking issue at the battery connector:

⚠️ Why the sparks are a concern:

    • Sparks usually indicate a short circuit or faulty connection, possibly due to:
      • Damaged battery
      • Dirty or corroded connectors
      • Faulty charging circuit on the motherboard
    • If ignored, this could damage the motherboard or pose a fire risk, especially if you try connecting the battery again.

✅ Safe Use Without the Battery:

You can use the laptop on AC power alone, but:

    • Use a surge protector to avoid voltage spikes (the battery usually helps regulate power).
    • Don’t move the laptop while it's plugged in — a sudden unplug can cause it to shut off immediately and risk data loss or file corruption. Leads
    • Monitor for overheating — some laptops rely on the battery to help manage thermals or fan behavior.

    🔧 What You Should Do:

    1. Inspect the battery and connector — look for burn marks, swelling, or bent pins.
    2. Avoid reconnecting the battery until the issue is diagnosed.
    3. If you're comfortable, clean the connector gently with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush (when powered off and unplugged).
    4. Replace the battery if it's swollen or defective.
    5. If sparks continue, take it to a technician — the charging circuitry might need repair.

    Summary:

✅ Yes, it’s relatively safe to use the laptop without the battery for now.
❌ But do NOT reconnect the sparking battery until it's inspected or replaced.

Let me know what laptop model you're using — I can help find replacement battery info or a service manual if needed.
