Missing DHCP DNS Configuration on Predator Connect X7 5G

Hello Acer team and community,

I’m using the Acer Predator Connect X7 5G router and noticed a key limitation in its configuration capabilities:

There is currently no option to set custom DNS servers in the DHCP settings for LAN or Wi-Fi clients. This means that all connected devices are forced to use the default DNS provided by the router or the ISP, with no way to override it centrally.

This is a critical feature that’s expected in any mid- to high-range router. The ability to define DNS servers (e.g. AdGuard, Cloudflare, NextDNS, internal resolvers) at the DHCP level is essential for:

  • Network-wide content filtering or privacy
  • Custom DNS resolution in corporate/home environments
  • Avoiding manual configuration on each device

I’ve checked all available menus, but this option appears to be missing.

Is there a hidden way to configure this, or is Acer planning to add this feature in a future firmware update?
It would be great to hear from others in the community or from the Acer development team.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, you set/change the DNS server in Windows Network not in the router, right click on the Network icon on the taskbar and open the settings, click on Edit "More adapter options" (red box picture)

    Network settings.jpg

Then click on Wi-Fi properties Internet Protocol TCP/iPv4 and click on Use the following DNS server (see boxes in red below)

    Network 2.jpg

Type in your Open DNS address like 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 for Alternate DNS or whatever you prefer and click on OK.

Are you trying to configure using the phone app or via the web interface? What mode do you have it in? It may just grab the DNS from it's DHCP lease from the ISP, but it should allow you to set it for an internal DNS server instead…
