After reading all the issues people have had, I'm not particularly excited about updating but… Windows 11 24H2 update is still not showing on my Helios 18 PH18-72 for Windows Update. Nothing relevant to my system is listed on the Microsoft page of known issues here:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24H2

My Helios has Nvidia GTX 4080, 32GB of RAM, I upgraded the boot M.2 SSD to a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro. Is there a 3rd party hold for Helios 18? Thought other people got the auto update. I will be doing full image backup before applying whenever it does become available, just seems weird that more than a month after full rollout it hasn't shown up.

Those issues from that Microsoft article are in extreme cases that could happen, but are NOT common issues that happen. I've never ever had any problems with either my older Nitro AN515-56 that has been running the 24H2 since it was first released and/or my new 6 month old PHN16-71 with the RTX4050 laptop running the 24H2 version, as the latter laptop is a very similar laptop to your PH18-72 model that has had no problems.

Download the 24H2 version from Microsoft and do an update on top of your existing 23H2 version Win-11, its a very simple update, but after the update you will have to reapply any software's and apps passwords. But with this update its allot better to do a clean install of Win-11 24H2 version if you are willing to wipe out your previous version and backup your personal files. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Appreciate the input, but I'm looking for any specific information on why the 24H2 is not available via Windows update on Helios 18 - not instructions for manually forcing it or doing clean install from ISO.

Its NOT because 24H2 version update is not suitable for your PH18-72 model, if you just bought your laptop and the new laptops Win-11 hasn't been used, it must still have the old 23H2 version and windows update needs to be activated to the new 24H2 download, or your laptop hasn't got all the windows updates to be able to run the 24h2 version update or your windows update is faulty.

The 24H2 update was released on 1st October 2024, so its been around for a while and your PH18-72 should have had the update come up in its windows update already. For best performance of your laptop, make sure that you have the last bios version 1.10 installed and do the standalone 24H2 update and don't be worried why it hasn't come up on your PH18-72 model laptop.

Purchased laptop November 2024, been running Windows Updates since, 24H2 never offered. Firmware was updated to 1.10.

Again, appreciate your input, but the question I am asking the rest of the community - why is 24H2 not showing up as an available update? "Force it manually" responses/instructions are not helpful.

How many other Helios 18 owners got offered it via Windows update (even if you haven't installed yet)?

I have the same model as you purchased in August 24. I had 24h2 update offered optionally through windows update some months ago. Didn't take the update for a while but I am on it now installed through Windows update. I guess the only thing you've done different is to replace your SSD. Have you checked for a firmware update for your SSD on Samsungs website.? Other than that are there any acer firmware/ driver updates being offered optionally through Windows update? I find it iritating that with the Acer optional driver updates offered...Windows does not tell you what device they relate to. So if you installed 3 at the same time and had an issue you wouldn't know which device or app it relates too.

thanks- that is very helpful information.

Samsung Magician shows my boot 4TB SSD firmware is current.

I have two optional Acer updates under "driver updates" - listed as "SoftwareComponent" 1.5.10.1011 and 1.5.24.1022, no idea what they are for. Will take image backup of my boot drive, apply them & see if that changes anything.

backed up boot drive, installed those 2 Acer driver updates, rebooted- re-ran Windows Update, no change.

Is there a cmd you can run to reset windows update or is there a windows trouble shooter to run ?

A long shot but have you run admin cmd line to fix your current install?

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    Then SFC /scannow

Some software you might have installed could be blocking the update it might be on Microsofts black list which I'm sure you could find details of online

I'll try that tonight. To your other point, I checked the link in my initial post for black listed software, nothing posted, I'll dig further.
