Hi, the Predator Triton 300 SE has one M.2 PCIe Gen3 x 4 SSD slot, a good SSD would be the Gen3 Samsung 970 Evo Plus up to 2TB. The laptop includes a 2.5" SATA drive bay, allowing you to add a traditional HDD or a SATA SSD for extra storage. The Samsung 870 Evo V-NAND 2.5" Sata-3 SSD is a very fast drive, up to 2TB,

    Hi Puraw,

Thank you for the information. It is punctual.

I understand that it is not necessary to install Acer products, as the SSD slot is for a 2 TB drive; i.e., we can use alternative brands.

However, the 2TB SSD will be an addition to the 512 GB or a replacement?

What exact Triton 300 SE model do you have? As and if its the PT316-51s-7397 model which is a 12th Gen cpu model with DDR5 ram can run 4TB and higher dive capacities are handled easily, if its an older PCI3 x4 lane Triton 300SE laptop then there might be a bios limitation on these laptops and up to 2TB drive capacities, so be aware of that, as a 4TB or higher capacity could be limited.

I suggest that you read this Microsoft article here, as theoretically the max capacity in Win-10 or Win-11 with the GUID (GPT) format is up to 8 petabytes (1 petabyte = 1000TB) so you will never ever reach that capacity on this laptop😁

But with these new PCIe 4 x 4 M.2 SSD drives, these laptops are designed for 4TB and higher capacity drives like what is available today at WD_Black SN850X 8TB SSD, which the quickest 4TB drive is the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB at Seq/MB 7,013 or the 2nd quickest is the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 4TB, so look at these, but one thing is that these drives aint cheap if you want a high capacity drive.

If your Triton is a Gen 3 x4 M.2 SSD drive model then the quickest drive is the WD Black AN1500 2TB (but it aint cheap) that has a 5,398 Seq/MB speed (which is like a Gen 4 x4 drive) or the 2nd quickest that is the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB with a 3,434 Seq/MB speed if you want to fit a super quick or a quick PCIe 3 x4 M.2 SSD drive. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

Hi, no need to use recommended brands for the SSD upgrade, any brand will work, even a Gen4 SSD will work in a Gen3 x4 slot but that will run at half the rated speed like a Gen3 SSD. As for the 2.5" Sata-3 SSD I recommend you use the most reliable 2.5" Samsung 870 Evo V-NAND up to 2TB.
