I have performed the recommended battery break-in: running the battery down three times, and then fully recharging it. The first two times it recharged up to 100%, but yesterday it only recharged to 80% and stopped. The charging light on the side extinguished, even though the charger was plugged in and powered. Several times I have unplugged the charger, and ran the power down to 73-75%; then plugged in the charger. It begins charging, but again stops at 80%. Is there something wrong, or is this caused from a “power saving” or “battery performance” mode adjustment I made in Settings?

Hi, disable the "Optimizing" and 80% charge limiting options in Acer Care Center or AcerSense, if the battery still won't fully charge stop the acSVC and acAgentSvc in Windows Services and change the Startup type to Disabled in Properties and click on Apply, you can also try to uninstall these programs in Windows "Add or remove programs" but you may not have the Caps Lock popups and fan speed control anymore.

The Aspire a315-44P-R7GS laptop stops charging at 80% due to a feature called "Battery Life Extender" or "Optimized Charging," which limits charging to 80% to prolong battery life by reducing charging cycles. This setting can be disabled or adjusted in the laptop's battery settings or Acer Care Center app.
    Here's a more detailed explanation:
    Battery Life Extender:
This feature is designed to protect the battery by limiting the number of full charge cycles it experiences.
    Optimized Charging:
Some laptops, including Acer models, offer features like "Optimized Charging" or "Smart Charging" which pause charging at 80% and resume it before the user typically uses the laptop, based on their charging habits.
    Disabling the Feature:
You can typically disable or adjust the charging limit by accessing your laptop's battery settings, often through a utility like Acer Care Center app or your laptop's manufacturer's software.
    Finding the Settings:
Look for "Battery Health," "Charging," or "Power Settings" in your laptop's software.
    Choosing Full Capacity Mode:
You may be able to select "Full Capacity Mode" or "Balanced Mode" to allow charging to 100%.
    Other Possible Reasons:
While less common, issues like a damaged AC adapter or a faulty charging port could also cause charging problems.
