I am really pleased with my new Acer but I am getting pop up advertisements for Acer products and services on my home page. How can I turn them off?

Hi, only use the Windows Edge browser but don't use BING or Google, set another search engine like Webcrawler.com or similar for opening your home page, Delete all cookies. Block Pop-ups: Open Edge and click the three-dot menu (...) in the top-right corner. Go to Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Pop-ups and redirects. Toggle Block (recommended) to ON. Disable Personalized Ads: Open Edge and go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services. Scroll down to Personalized ads and turn off ad personalization.

Yes, you can try to uninstall Acer Jumpstart and Acer Collection in Windows "Add or remove programs", chances are that these will be reinstalled again when you reboot.

I deleted the Acer apps, ran a regsitry cleaner and rebooted. They are no longer there. Hopefully this has sorted the problem. Thanks for your help.

To stop Acer advertisements appearing on your Windows home page, you can try disabling notifications or uninstalling specific programs that may be responsible for displaying ads. You can also use ad blockers in your browser.

    1. Disable Notifications:
      In Windows 11:
Go to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen and choose "Picture" or "Slideshow" instead of "Smart" or "Notifications" to disable lock screen ads.
      In Windows:
You can also disable specific app notifications by navigating to Settings > Personalization > Notifications & actions and toggling off notifications for the relevant app.
    2. Uninstall Potential Programs:
      Acer Jumpstart:
Some users have reported that the "Acer Jumpstart" program was responsible for displaying pop-up ads. You can try uninstalling it from the Add or Remove Programs settings in Windows.
      Other Acer software:
You can also try uninstalling other pre-installed Acer software to see if that resolves the issue.
    3. Use Ad Blockers:
      Browser extensions:
Install an ad blocker extension in your web browser (e.g., in Chrome or in Edge).
      System-wide ad blockers:
Some ad blockers can be installed system-wide and block ads across various applications and websites.
    4. Check for Bloatware:
Review pre-installed software: Acer, like other manufacturers, may pre-install some software that can include bloatware or adware. Check your installed programs and uninstall any unwanted or suspicious software.
    5. Other tips:
Minimize ad windows: If you see an ad window, you can try minimizing it.
Kill the process: You can try killing the process associated with the ad in the Task Manager.
Update your drivers: Ensure your drivers are up to date, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with advertising.
