Hello Friends

I have a problem, i updated my W500 to Windows 8 and Windows Update was not working so after looking on the web for some answers i found that i had to mark the C: partition as "active " , i did it , but now i'm on a black screen that reads:

Windows failed to start a recent hardware or software ... etc
File:/Boot/BCD
Status: 0xc000000f
The boot configuration Data for your Pc is missing or contains errors

Now , i try to boot onto the Bios to reinstall the system ( i installed Windows 8 by making a bootable usb ) but i can't get into the bios , it goes directly to the black error screen , i also tried to use an external cd/dvd reader but it has a 2 cable usb is not externally powered so i'm not sure if it can be done with a unit like this

What can I do? , please i need some advice to fix this , be able to get into the bios , restart something , use something specific , whatever i may need to do

Thanks a lot for your time

Will

I solved the problem ... couldn't get into the bios menu , so i flashed an old bios on the tablet ( with a bootable usb pendrive with the bios file on it ) using a service manual procedure i found on the web ... the tablet must be turned on , using the Windows Button + Volume DOWN + Power ... this procedure flash the bios into the motherboard , after that i could use the F2 function and get into the bios and reinstall Windows with a bootable pendrive ...

Your best bet is likely to be to boot the USB stick again and let it repair your boot configuration.
