Sometimes it lags when it's 30% and up and sometimes it lags when the battery is full. I also Charged it over night but when I turn the computer on my Acer asipre 3 has flashing light on the side and when it's flashing. And then when I charge the computer it still lags. Model : Asprie A315-59 12th gen Itel® Core™ i5-1235U

Hi @Owenpro, I’ll try to help you out based on what you shared. Your issue seems related to power settings or hardware/power delivery behavior when plugged in.

Here are some steps to try:

    1. Change Power Plan Settings

    • Go to Control PanelPower Options.
    • Set your power plan to "High performance" or "Balanced" (avoid "Power Saver").
    • Click “Change plan settings”“Change advanced power settings”.
    • Under Processor power management, set:
      • Minimum processor state (Plugged in): 100%
      • Maximum processor state (Plugged in): 100%

This helps prevent the CPU from throttling when charging.

    2. Check Battery Health

    • powercfg /batteryreport
    • Check the report to see if your battery is degrading or showing abnormal behavior.

    3. Update BIOS and Drivers

    • Go to Acer Support Website.
    • Download the latest:
      • BIOS update
      • Chipset drivers
      • VGA/Intel graphics drivers
    • Install updates and restart the laptop.

    4. Check Task Manager

    • Plug in your charger, then press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
    • See if any process spikes in CPU/Disk usage when charging.
    • This can help identify if software is causing the lag.

    5. Test with a Different Charger (If Possible)

    • Sometimes a faulty or underpowered charger can cause power instability.
    • Try borrowing a known working charger (65W or higher, original or certified) to test.

Let us know what works or if the problem continues — happy to help you further! 😊

I think only when the charger's adapter is too hot it lags. But it has never done lagged when the adapters getting too hot before

Hi, update BIOS with the new version 1.30 from 2025/02/06, the battery should be still OK after 3 years but as suggested above after you have updated BIOS create a battery report, paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, press Ctrl + P or right click and select "Print to Microsoft PDF", attach the report to your reply, type @Puraw or use "Quote" when you reply so I will get an alert.

The Aspire A315-59 might lag when plugged in due to power management settings or a potential issue with the power adapter or charging port. To address the lag, you can try adjusting power settings to prioritize performance or ensure the charger is properly connected.
    Troubleshooting Steps:

    1. Power Plan Adjustments:
Go to Edit Power Plan in the Windows search bar.
Change Processor Power Management to 100% when plugged in.
Adjust Switchable Dynamic Graphics to "Maximize Performance" when plugged in.
Change Multimedia Settings to "Balanced" when playing video and plugged in.
      Restart your PC.
    2. Ensure Charger Connection:
Verify the charger is properly connected to the laptop and the power outlet.
Check for loose connections and ensure the charging cable is inserted correctly.
    3. Battery Management:
Consider leaving the charger connected and battery fully charged to 100%.
If gaming while charging, the system might throttle power to prevent overheating, which can cause lag.
      Additional Information:
Some users have reported that using a power-saving mode or a specific graphics card driver setting (if applicable) can cause lag when plugged in.
If the issue persists, you might need to update your graphics drivers or consider contacting Acer support for further assistance.
Some users have reported that leaving the charger connected 24/7 and keeping the battery fully charged can improve performance.

I think what happens is that the adapters gets too hot and it starts to lag the computer

Never mind the adapter is still normal and not even hot and it still lags especially when playing games with high graphics or bright flashes

You did not update BIOS, do that first then run he battery report. The record shows you either replaced the battery or you reinstalled Windows this month, did you perhaps upgrade to Windows11 24H2?

I noticed that when I plug in my computer both the lights on the right are flashing and the charging doesn't work even though my port is perfectly fine. And yes I did reinstall windows this month but it didn't work. I also used my computer today it work perfectly fine until I unplug the adapter and the port , but now it turned laggy.

Your Aspire A315-59 has a faulty charging rail and it could also be because of faults in its EC, BQ or Chipset chips that all affect the charging rail of your laptop. I suggest that you take you laptop to an experienced technician that can fully analyse and pinpoint the exact fault of your laptops charging rail, as plugging in the adapter and your laptop lagging and not charging is not normal. Good luck and hope this helps you out further to solve this problem.
