I've just bought the Acer S32 desktop all in one. There aer three magentic attachments which fit on the top of the screen for the webcam and light.

On the base of these detachable units is a C type USB connector. I tried connecting a extenral USB drive to this C type connector but it did'nt work.

Can anyone tell me what this connection is for?

Your Aspire S32-185xx model AIO computers USB-C ports supports charging and only USB functions, but Video is not supported, as when an external HDD is pugged into that port, the USB-C should support data In/out type functions, the USB-c ports are NOT a Thunderbolt 4 type port for display functions.

There must be something wrong with either your external drive USB-C port, USB-C cable or the S32 AIO port, try the other USB-C port.

The below captions are for the S32-1855 model and it describes all the USB-C ports of this AIO computer. make sure that you have all the Win-11 24h2 updates to the last OS build: 26100.4061 and install the Intel Driver and Support Assistant and do a scan to see if you have all the latest Intel drivers up to date for your AIO computer, as that helps also in solving these sorts of issues. Also update to the latest bios version R01-A4 if you haven't done so and you have the basic acer bios . Good luck and hope this helps you out to solve this issue.

On the top of the monitor that port is a POGO PIN and NOT a USB-C port

    Good morning from the UK

Many thanks for your kind assistance. The Type C port I am talking about is on the base of the detachable webcam with ring light. This unit attaches magnetically to the POGO pin at the tope of the screen. When I plug by Seagate external HDD into this C connector nothing happens and the drive does not show up in "this computer". However, when I attach the driove to the C port on the side of the unit everything works fince so the drive and cable must be OK.

I am rather curious to understand wht there would be a C port on the top of the camera module? It seems a starnage place to have such a port!

I attach a picture of the component I am talking about.

What is your exact S32 AIO model, as the model that I've shown captions from above is the S32-1655 model that does not have that port on the stand base that your caption show, so please let us know the exact S32 AIO computer that you have, as just saying S32 means nothing and we can't get an exact detail on your AIO computer.
