Hey,

I have seen many users upgraded to Crucial 64GB CL46 5600MHz that actually runs at 4800MHz due to the laptop compatibility (at least the laptop unofficially supporting 64GB).

Considering that I'll be upgrading to a higher clock speed, lower CAS latency & XMP supporting laptop in coming years, I was looking at Kingston FURY Impact 64GB CL40 5600MHz that I think is a good option as it also has On-die ECC.

Not sure if an XMP RAM will work in a non-XMP supported laptop (or maybe my laptop supports it, not sure). Also, I can hope returns from Amazon's non-returnable products like a RAM. But not sure how DesertCart will react if I have to return & refund (as the model is 'currently unavailable' from months in Amazon India).

I have no issue of both the RAM (Crucial & Kingston) will work at same speed, latency in my laptop, I just want a future-proof RAM. Can anyone tell me if that Kingston will be supported by my PHN16-71 i7-13700HX RTX4060?

My Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (2023) specs:
Intel i7-13700HX
RTX 4060
16GB RAM
1TB+2TB SSD

Crucial 5600mhz ram cause boot issue for some user and kingston fury ram will not work. Official this laptop support 32GB max.

Option 1 and 2 are for variants that support up to 5600MHz. However, the 4800MHz variant can also use these ram, but the speed will be downclocked to 4800MHz. When 4800mhz users getting discount on 5600mhz ram or 4800mhz ram not available, then they should buy this.

Option 1- You can buy two KVR56S46BS8-16 (5600mhz) modules. Together they will work at dual channel 32GB Ram.

Option 2. But some users able to upgrade to 64GB dual channel. If you want to get 64GB. Then You can get this Kingston KVR56S46BD8K2-64. The Kingston KVR56S46BD8K2-64 is a 64GB memory kit consisting of two 32GB DDR5 5600mhz SDRAM modules (2 x 32GB). It is compatible with your laptop and will work great in 64GB dual channel.

Recommended options if you have i7-13700HX

Option 3- Your laptop support max 4800mhz, so instead of getting 5600mhz ram, you can get this Kingston ValueRAM at 64GB (2x32GB) 4800MHz kit, KVR48S40BS8K2-64 if available and getting at less price.

Same here for 32GB dual channel you can get Kingston KVR48S40BS8K2-32 kit (2x16GB DDR5-4800 SODIMM). If available at less price.

    Thanks @GAMING6698

My laptop says 32GB max support. But many users installed 64GB (32GBx2) successfully. I am wondering if my laptop supports 96GB RAM too (48GBx2) as the processor (i7-13700HX) supports up to 96GB RAM. Anyone tried? Or anyone has a very strong point on this question?

No, no one has tested 96GB. Going above the official limit carries some risk, like upgrading from 32GB to 64GB, but going up to 96GB is too much. The laptop’s firmware or hardware may impose limitations.

The Kingston FURY Impact DDR5-5600MT/s CL40 will not run on your PHN16-71 laptop as its an Intel XMP 3.0 Certified type ram and these laptops don't run on XMP certified overclocked ram, so be aware of that, as these laptops only operate with normal ram.

Your PHN16-71 laptop with its i7-13700HX cpu is designed for the DDR5-4800MT.s CL40 normal type ram ONLY and will not run at 5600MT/s speed with dDR5-5600MT/s CL46 if fitted, it will operate but the ram will be downclocked to 4800MT/s speeds due to the cpu design factors set by Intel.

Btw, I've upgraded my PHN16-71-50JG model with the i5-13500HX cpu and the RTX4050 gpu to 64GB at 2x 32GBDDR5-4800MT/s CL40 Crucial ram that is really a Micron manufactured normal ram, and my laptop runs perfectly without any lags, BSODs never crashing.

I don't know if the PHN16-71 will run to its Intel designed total ram of 128GB or if it will run at 96GB total ram, as there are 48GB and 64GB type DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 or DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram modules available, but I know that a community member has updated his Predator Helios 3D 15 Gaming Laptop SpatialLabs Edition 14th Gen i9-1400HX cpu to 96GB total ram at 2x46GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram and its working perfectly, but the only flaw is that he doesn't get the designed 5600MT/s speed from this ram in the 96GB capacity, as the ram is downclocked to 4800MT/s speed for some strange reason, so be aware of this if you intend upgrading your PHN16-71 i9-13900HX cpu laptop to this high capacity ram as the 4800MT/s ram could be downclocked to 4400MT/s speed. Hope this helps you out some more.

    Yeah, thanks @StevenGen & @GAMING6698

The XMP 3.0 thing makes sense. Although, I am little curious about the 'Dynamic Memory Profile' option in the advanced bios of my laptop (not expecting it to be XMP 3.0).

I've but already ordered Kingston's 2x32GB XMP 3.0 5600Hz CL40 RAM from Amazon. I'll test it this Sunday & will update here.

I am just expecting disabled XMP 3.0 [cuz my laptop doesn't support it (I think so)] as the RAM has 'Plug N Play' thing, which automatically downclocks the RAM according to the laptop's support. So, I guess it should run at 4800Hz without XMP 3.0 (sorry if I sound dumb cuz I'm not that much tech guy).

Of course, I won't be testing 96GB unless this laptop gets my secondary system as I don't want to damage the laptop's IMC during testing.

If I still sound dumb, then I've ordered from Amazon. I can somehow return it without damaging it.
Thanks for helping. Hope you all will be a bit excited about the results I'll post this Sunday.

If XMP cause ram cause black screen then you need to return this ram and get one I suggested above in my comment

I suggest that you send the Kingston FURY Impact DDR5-5600MT/s CL40 BACK and DO NOT open the new ram, as it will not work and you will get a "Black Screen" and your laptop will NOT boot. Send this ram back and get the suitable and proper designed ram for your PHN16-71 with the i7-700HX cpu laptop which is the DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 normal ram.

If you want Kingston ram, then see the Kingston ValueRAM Kits of either 32GB or 64GB of their DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram or the same type ram from Crucial Normal Ram Kits of their 32GB or 64GB kits, and DO NOT USE XMP overclocked ram like the Kingston FURY Impact type ram, its a very simple formula and thing to do!

Your PHN16-71 will work perfectly with DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram, as I've been using this exact type ram 64GB kit from Crucial and its been working perfectly for 6 months. Good luck as I can't give you any more advice if you are still prepared to use the none compatible XMP overclocked Kingston FURY Impact DDR5-5600MT/s CL40 type ram which will not work.

REWRITING MY PREVIOUS COMMENT AS THE IMAGE I ATTACHED HAD WRITTEN '32GB (FURY)' INSTEAD OF '64GB (FURY)'

Finally, I've received the Kingston FURY Impact 32GB x 2 sticks for my laptop. I installed it & right now I am typing from the same PHN16-71 laptop which has the Kingston FURY Impact RAM. This is my second successful boot out of two boot attempts (100% boot rate till now).

So, until I get any error & found any issue, I can say that:
    Kingston FURY Impact 64GB (2x32GB) CL40 5600MHz WORKS on PHN16-71 (i7-13700HX, RTX4060)

I've bought 2 sticks of 'KF556S40IB-32' from Amazon India instead of 'KF556S40IBK2-64' as they were not available on Amazon India.
Basically, both are same (see the difference in model number, it clearly says). The difference is selling individual 32GB stick and selling dual 32GB sticks in one pack. And yeah, mine is working in Quad channel (dual channel of DDR5 i.e. 4 x 32-bit).

Here is the 'CPU-Z comparison' of upgrading from 16GB stock (Samsung) RAM to 64GB new (Kingston) RAM. Yeah, the latency things are more in the newer one. But I don't have any issue.

    phn16-71_64gb_ram.jpg

I have already done multiple benchmarks with the stock RAM. I'll do the benchmark with the new RAM in few days.
Yeah, I'll update things here very soon. Stay tuned!

    PS:

@StevenGen as much as I know, any XMP 3.0 RAM can work in non-XMP supporting laptop by working at its JEDEC speed automatically if the sticks have 'Plug N Play' feature (if not then we can manually change the clock speed to the laptop's recommendation). Thanks for your recommendation & discussion though.

    @GAMING6698 Thanks for the discussion.
