I want to add an HDD for more storage, but I'm not sure which cable I need to connect it to the board.

You need a complete kit to fit the 2.5" HDD into your aspire A315-59 model laptop, if Acer didn't provide this in the box, then you need to buy all these parts below'. Good luck and hope this helps you out and gives you a compete guide, as all these parts are from the A315-59 Acer service guide and are 100% correct.

If you want to connect a 2.5" SATA III SSD drive use the same cable, you don't need a separate cable for the 2.5" SATA III SSD drives. If you want to connect the M.2 SSD drives to this laptop then you don't need this cable as M.2 SSD drives have slots and are not connected with a SATA III cable.

Your Aspire A315-59 laptop has two M.2 SSD slots and its boot 1st slot is a PCIe 4 x4 lane type drive and the 2nd slot is a PCIe 3 x4 lane, so you don't need a cable for these drives. Good luck and hope this clears all the drive issues that you have. For most suitable and fastest M.2 SSD drives, see this SSD Benchmarks Hierarchy 2025 tests and chose the appropriate Gen4 and Gen3 drives for your budget and speeds that you want.

Slot 1 is the boot Gen 4 x4 drive and slot 2 is the salve Gen 3 x4 slot.

Thank you very much for the help. Unfortunately, the box didn't include a cable to connect an SSD.

I made a mistake about the drive type. I want to use an SSD, since it's better and faster than an HDD. Will the same FFC cable work?
