Hello Acer Community,

I am reaching out to request assistance with my laptop; an Acer Aspire 3 A315-59

The first issue I noticed was that horizontal lines began appearing from the bottom up to the middle of the screen, while the upper half remained clear. Despite this, the laptop was still usable, so I continued working with it normally.

However, the issue has now worsened. When I press the power button, nothing happens. But when I press any other key, the laptop starts to boot—it briefly displays the Acer logo, then shuts down immediately. It does not proceed to Windows, and I cannot access Safe Mode either.

Thanks to StevenGen for the detailed response and suggestions. He mentioned uninstalling the Intel Iris Xe Graphics driver and then reinstalling the OEM version (v31.0.101.4032) from the Acer support site. Unfortunately, I am unable to uninstall the driver because the system does not boot at all—the laptop never reaches Windows or BIOS reliably.

I have already tried many of the hardware-related suggestions including:

  • Disconnecting the main battery
  • Removing the RAM
  • Disconnecting the RTC/CMOS battery
  • Cleaning the fan and RAM slots
  • Reconnecting everything after a 30–45-minute reset period

Despite all that, the issue remains: the screen only briefly flashes the Acer logo, then the fan stops, and the unit shuts down again.

StevenGen also suggested that if all else fails, the issue could be a faulty eDP cable or the LCD panel itself and even provided a list of compatible 15.6" screens for the A315-59. He warned that I must disconnect the main battery before touching the eDP cable, as damage may occur otherwise.

At this point, I am asking anyone here in the community:
Can someone please walk me through, step-by-step, the exact process I should follow to determine the real cause of this issue and resolve it? Whether it’s hardware-related (panel or cable) or something else that I missed, I would really appreciate detailed instructions or confirmation on the best course of action.

Thank you very much in advance.

Seeing that you can't do any software updates, unless you connect this laptop to an external monitor by means of its HDMI port, as that is the only thing that can give you an image, if it will give you an image and there is nothing wrong with the mainboard, that is, if you have access to a monitor? If you don't I suggest that you take this laptop to a technician that has all the expertise and all the proper tools as they will be able to pinpoint and analyze your laptops problems exactly and fix it, that is without you having to take this laptop apart and ending up damaging it even ,more beyond repair.

Also and seeing that you have done a Hard Reset that didn't work. The only other options you have is to take the eDP cable out and check its screen and mainboard plugs and if the plugs pins are shorted as that could cause these symptoms that you are getting also, which means and if their pins are shorted, then these plugs are ruined too, so this needs a technicians expertise to get an image back on your laptop or these plugs replaced (if they can be replaced) otherwise, you will need a new mainboard replaced, which is going to cost allot of money. Those are the remaining options that you have, as no software or laptop reset of magic trick will get an image back on your Aspire A315-59 laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out further..
