The drive is recognized as a storage device, but I cannot boot from this drive/port. I can boot from it on another computer. The BIOS is up to date (v.1.07)

    Hello Puraw and thanks, but…

I have 2 Linux distributions (which work, tested on a PC of another brand) on this Thunderbolt external drive. My problem is not installing Windows or anything else, but booting from this external drive. I don't see any Thunderbolt-related settings in the BIOS (only options related to TBT).

You need to create a bootable Linux USB allows you to install or try out a Linux distribution on any computer. Here’s how you can do it using Balena Etcher as then you will be able to boot the Linkux OS from a USB

    Creating a Bootable Linux USB

    Using Balena Etcher

    1. Download Balena Etcher: Visit the Balena Etcher website and download the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
    2. Download Linux ISO: Download the ISO file of the Linux distribution you want to use. For example, you can download Ubuntu from its official website.
    3. Insert USB Drive: Connect your USB drive to your computer.
    4. Open Balena Etcher: Launch Balena Etcher and click on "Flash from file". Select the downloaded ISO file.
    5. Select Target Drive: Choose your USB drive as the target. Be careful to select the correct drive as this process will erase all data on it.
    6. Flash: Click on "Flash!" to start the process. Balena Etcher will write the ISO image to the USB drive and make it bootable.

    Hello StevenGen and thanks, but…

My Linux distributions are already installed on this external Thunderbolt drive and have been tested on another computer, but I can't boot from this drive on my Predator PH3D15-71 using the USB Type-C port.

However, I can boot from another external drive containing the same Linux distribution on a USB 3.2 port.

So I think the issue is not with the external drive or the Linux distribution, but rather with the BIOS, which does not allow me to use Thunderbolt for booting.
