hi everyone...4 years ago I bought an Acer ED270R monitor...until now I've never had any problems...but a few days ago while I was playing a strange black vertical stripe appeared in one part of the screen...this stripe sometimes goes away, and other times it comes back for a few minutes and then disappears again...intermittently...I tried to replace the displayport cable, I also used HDMI...I updated the video card drivers, I changed the socket...nothing solved it...I also realized that every now and then this black stripe moves slightly to the right and then returns to its place... as if there were 2 different stripes that alternately turn on and off... what happens? the monitor is leaving me?

After 4 years, the LCD panel or T-con board may be failing, with a loose ribbon cable or internal fault causing the moving stripe, despite testing different cables and ports.

Check if it happens in the monitor's OSD On-Screen Display Menu. If the stripe appears while you are inside the OSD, it's 100% a monitor problem, because the OSD is generated by the monitor, not the GPU. If the issue persists even when plugged into a totally different system, then it's for sure the monitor.

Ensure your computer's refresh rate and resolution settings match the monitor's specifications. Incorrect settings can sometimes cause display anomalies. Carefully check the monitor for any signs of physical damage or loose connections, especially around the edges of the screen.

If none of the above steps work, your monitor’s T-Con board or internal connections are failing. Since the issue is intermittent but worsening, it will likely get worse over time.

If the monitor is still under warranty, Acer might be able to repair or replace it for you. Acer Support

A black vertical stripe on an Acer ED270R monitor can be caused by several factors, including damaged screen, a loose or damaged flex cable, or a video card issue. Troubleshooting steps include checking the flex cable, updating graphics drivers, and changing the display cable. If the issue persists, it may indicate a hardware problem requiring professional repair or replacement.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential causes and solutions:

    Potential Causes:-
    Damaged Screen:
If the screen is physically damaged, the only solution is to replace it, says a Quora user.
    Flex Cable Issues:
The flex cable connecting the display to the motherboard might be loose, crimped, or damaged. Reseating or replacing the cable could resolve the problem, says a Quora user.
    Graphics Card Issues:
If the issue is with the video card, it might be more difficult to fix, especially if it's integrated into the motherboard.
    Troubleshooting Steps:
Check the Flex Cable: Open the monitor and carefully inspect the flex cable for any damage or loose connections.
Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can sometimes cause display issues.
Change the Display Cable: Try a different HDMI or DisplayPort cable to rule out cable problems.
Test on a Different Device: Connect the monitor to a different computer or device to see if the issue persists.
Seek Professional Help: If the problem continues, it's best to consult a qualified technician or contact Acer support for further assistance.
