Why does my BIOS update tool crash during flashing on Acer Aspire S32-1856 & how can I fix it?

My Acer Aspire S32-1856 works not correctly — it reduces brightness from 90% to 100%, when connecting some devices, some connectors stop working, sometimes the sound disappears.

So I want to update my BIOS. I downloaded the BIOS from the support page, created a "UCP" folder on my hard drive according to the instructions and copied the "R01-A4" file there. But when I run this file as an administrator, a window opens, the words "Reading flash" appear, it reaches 100 percent, then a couple more lines quickly appear (I don't have time to read what's written there) and the program crashes.

There are three BIOS versions on the support page - all behave the same. I even tried to install Windows 10 (I had 11), the program also crashes.

Why does the BIOS flashing program crash? How can I fix it? My BIOS version is "R01-A1L"

Your Aspire S32-1856 AIO computer ONLY runs on Win-11, so reinstall Win-11 24H2 and update all updates to the last OS build: 26100.3915, afterwards fist.

After the new Win-11 installation, look in the Windows Update > Advance options > Optional updates > Driver updates > as there should be an Insyde Software - Firmware - x.xxx.xx number, install this firmware, as this is the last compatible bios version R01-A4 for your Aspire S32-1856 AIO computer.

If there is no Windows Update > Driver updates for the Insyde Software - Firmware - x.xxx.xx number, then open the bios folder > BIOS_Acer_R01-A4_A_A > go to ROM folder > and right click "Run as administrator" > on the bios version: R01-A4.CAP file > as the bios R01-A4 should install like in the PDF AMIUCP BIOS Flash SOP v1.0 guide below, so follow this guide. Good luck and hope this clears this bios update, as you must be doing something wrong and that is why the bios is not installing.

There is no "Insyde Software - Firmware - x.xxx.xx" in driver updates. Can I install this driver manually?

In the folder "ROM" file with extention CAP (R01-A4.CAP) — It cannot be run as administrator. This file opens in my image viewer, but cannot be read.

    What should I do?

That is the only method that Acer suggests to update the bios of your Aspire S32-1856 AIO computer, so contact Acer Tech Support in your country and get instructions from them of how to update the bios or send your AIO computer to Acer to update this bios for you, as I don't want to advise you on any other bios update methods if its going to brick your bios chip. Good luck and hope you v=can solve this problem.

Find out your PC model and BIOS version and open the Acer website.

    1. On the Acer website, navigate to Support > Drivers and Manuals.
    2. Now, in the PC Category > Series > model, expand the BIOS/Firmware section.
    3. Download the latest BIOS version and extract the folder.
