Aspire Switch 10 SW3-016 (Windows 10) the admin password was lost, Error 2 when updating drivers

On my Aspire Switch 10 SW3-016 (Windows 10) the admin password was lost, and I could not make any changes to the system.

I tried VERY hard to fix this before finally giving up. In the end I reinstalled the latest Windows 10 from the Microsoft site.

I can just use it, but many things do not work now. No tab mode. No wifi. No blue tooth, no sound.

I downloaded a set of drivers and try to install them.

It fails with an error 2 and reverts to the old state.

Can anyone help me with this please? I have already spent nearly a week on this project.

I suggest that you contact Acer Tech Support in your country and ask them or get the Acer technicians to do this for you, as Acer community members are NOT allowed to give any guides on any password unlocking, this is to maintain security of the Acer system protocols. Thanks for your reply, I appreciate you trying to help. But I am not trying to unlock anything. I have full access to the system. I have a user account and an administrator account.

My problem is installing drivers for (at least) : sound, wifi, tablet mode. and presumably I will find more once I solve them.

That model is old enough that Acer only offers a platform driver bundle. Any other drivers are either going to have to be found on driver archive sites or from Windows update. Likely the only one you really need before doing the rest is the WiFi driver. The WiFi board is built into the motherboard, so you will have to figure out which chipset is being used. I think most of them used a Foxconn T77H462.

Billsey, thank you for taking the trouble to reply. After I saw your reply a realised that the drivers I had found on the Acer site were very inadequate. So I just searched everywhere and tried anything that looked promising. Multiple dead ends and many boots later - suddenly the wifi was running again! I do not even know what it was that worked. But wifi works now - so thankyou for the help. Since that breakthrough I've continued, and done many windows updates until most things now work. So I am very pleased that this little PC works again.
