Acer Connect Enduro M3 – no internet access on 5 GHz Wi-Fi only (2.4 GHz disabled)

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a strange issue with my Acer Connect Enduro M3 when using 5 GHz Wi-Fi only.

Here’s what happens:

  • If I disable the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and keep only the 5 GHz band active, connected devices (phones, laptops, etc.) can join the network, but they do not get internet access.
  • The devices stay connected, but there's no actual internet – even though the router itself has a working mobile connection.
  • The issue goes away as soon as I enable the 2.4 GHz band again – everything works fine when both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz are active.
  • I’ve tried restarting both the router and the client devices, and even tested with different SIM cards – same result.
  • In some cases, toggling Wi-Fi off/on on the device temporarily helps, but it’s not a permanent solution.

Is this a known issue? Has anyone found a workaround or fix?

I’d love to hear your experiences – and if anyone from Acer support is reading this, could you please look into it?

Thanks a lot!

The Wi-Fi setting is listed if you look at the taskbar as 2.4_5.0 GHz setting so both frequencies have to be present for the max 5.0GHz signal to work or be reached, as not all components reach or work under the 5.0GHz signal and they need the 2.4Ghz signal also to connect. The Windows Wi-Fi settings is set at 2.4_5.0GHz signal and it needs both to be set and not only the 5.0Ghz signal, as that is why its not working in your setup.

This is what is shown in my task bar for the Wi-Fi signal which is 2.4_5.0 GHz

Thanks for your input – I appreciate the explanation.

However, I don’t fully agree with the idea that both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz must be enabled for the 5 GHz band to function properly. Many routers (including the M3) allow users to configure separate SSIDs for each band, meaning they can operate as two entirely independent networks.

So if a device connects specifically to the 5 GHz SSID, and the router is configured to broadcast only that frequency, it should still provide internet access – assuming the device supports 5 GHz (which mine does).

In my case, devices can successfully connect to the 5 GHz-only network, but there's no internet access until Wi-Fi is toggled off and on. This strongly suggests a firmware or routing issue within the M3, not a limitation of the client devices or operating system.

I’ve also reported this to Acer support, because I think it should be fixed in a future firmware update.

Thanks again – and let’s hope someone from Acer takes a closer look at this.
