The laptop is about 6-7 months old, but recently it started to turn off suddenly. Sometimes it displays a blue screen of death (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) (ntoskrnl.exe+4b8460 bsod)That is, it can turn off with a blue screen of death, or just turn off. I also noticed that it can turn on with a black screen (the keyboard backlight turns on, and the laptop itself too, since the fans are running).I want to clarify that it also turns off on Linux. Only suddenly.I don't know what to do anymore. Should I contact the repair service under warranty?

Hi, the laptop is from January 2022, and your warranty may have expired. Check the condition of the battery first: paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, press Ctrl+P or right click and select "Print to Microsoft PDF", attach the report to your reply, type @Puraw or use "Quote" when you reply so I will get an alert. It may also be an overheating issue, check the GPU temperature in Nitro Sense. If you never cleaned the cooling fans take the laptop to an Acer accredited workshop for cleaning and thermal repasting.

On the Acer website it says that my warranty is valid until next year.

The symptoms you're describing—sudden shutdowns, Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL linked to ntoskrnl.exe, black screen on boot, and the issue persisting in Linux—suggest a hardware or firmware problem, not just a software/driver issue.

Here’s how to diagnose and fix it:
Check for Overheating :Since the issue occurs in both Windows and Linux, overheating is a likely culprit.
Use tools like HWMonitor (Windows) or lm-sensors (Linux) to check CPU/GPU temperatures.

Clean the laptop’s vents and fans dust buildup can cause overheating. If temps are high >90°C under load, consider repasting the CPU/GPU thermal compound.

Test RAM (Memory Errors Cause BSODs & Crashes)
Faulty RAM can cause ntoskrnl.exe BSODs and random shutdowns. Windows: Run Windows Memory Diagnostic (search in Start menu).
Linux: Use memtest86 (boot from USB).If errors are found, replace the faulty RAM module.

Check Storage Drive Health. If failing SSD/HDD can cause sudden shutdowns and boot issues.

Windows: Use CrystalDiskInfo to check drive health.
Linux: Use smartctl (sudo smartctl -a /dev/sdX).
If the drive shows warnings (e.g., reallocated sectors), back up data and replace it.

    Power Supply / Battery Issues
Try running the laptop only on AC power (remove the battery if possible).
If the problem stops, the battery may be faulty or overheating.
Test with a different charger if available.

BIOS/UEFI Issues. Reset BIOS settings to default (may fix instability).
Update BIOS/UEFI. Latest BIOS update for this model is V2.17 Nitro AN515-58 downloads

If all else fails, the issue could be a failing motherboard component. Discrete GPU failure (if your laptop has one) can cause black screens. Loose internal connections. If you’re comfortable, open the laptop to check for dust, loose cables, or overheating signs.

Since the laptop is only 6-7 months old, it should still be under warranty. Contact Acer Support the for repair/replacement especially if hardware failure is suspected.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

Hi, did you reinstall Windows last November or upgraded to Windows11 version 24H2 perhaps? The battery is not registered in BIOS and by Microsoft ACPI as there is no battery drainage reported, even if you never unplugged the power adapter there should be some battery wear after 5 months. Did you buy this 2022 model laptop refurbished 7 months ago? Start a "Repair under warranty ticket" online at Acer Support and wait for instructions by e-mail.

No. I bought the laptop already like that. It already had Windows 11 installed. I don't know whether it has been renovated.

Regarding BIOS, I updated it recently. The problem remains. I ran a RAM test on Windows, but after the test was finished, there was no message, or even a test result in the event log. Now I'll try through memtest. I don't want to disassemble the laptop, since it is under warranty and I don't know if the warranty will be voided because I disassembled it

I tested the RAM using memtest, everything went fine.

If CrystalDiskInfo shows your drive health at 98%, that’s generally a good sign—it means your SSD/HDD is in good condition with minimal wear. Focus on RAM, overheating, or power delivery next.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

Notably, these shutdowns also occur when running Linux, indicating a hardware-level problem rather than a Windows-specific software issue. Don't waste your time.

Your Nitro AN515-58 is almost certainly experiencing a hardware failure that requires professional service. Since it is under warranty, contact Acer support for a warranty repair or replacement as soon as possible. Do not attempt major repairs yourself to avoid voiding the warranty.

I think this issue related motherboard power delivery.

You should activate your warrenty. You can contact acer customer care using below link:
