Looking to upgrade rams in my nitro 5 an515-46-r2ve

I have 2x8GB right now in my laptop, but i want to upgrade it to 2x16GB or 2x32GB. I saw in other posts that in the service manual or in a document which is for the an515-46 series, the document states that the max memory size is 32GB (16GB per slot). On crucial's website, i found two models (an515-46 and an515-46-r4w2), both models supports up to 64GB of memory at least that's what they say there.

I know that the speed of memory should be 4800MHz because of the cpu

I also read that it should be cl40, so i also want to know if a cl38 module would work with my laptop or not.

Thanks for any answers.

Officially, Acer states that your laptop supports up to 32GB using two 16GB RAM sticks per slot. However, Crucial indicates that 64GB is supported, and one user with the same laptop model (AN515-46) was able to successfully install 2x32GB sticks. Installing 64GB may work, but there's always a small risk that it might not function as expected since Acer officially recommends a 32GB maximum. If you need 64GB, you can try it, and if it doesn't work, you'll need to return it and purchase a 32GB kit instead.

So, are you planning to install 2x16GB or 2x32GB? 64GB in dual channel will likely work, but since we're exceeding the official recommendation for RAM, you should be prepared for potential issues. Some users with different Nitro models have reported initial boot failures or instability after upgrading to 64GB on systems where Acer officially supported a maximum of 32GB.

Regarding speed, if your pre-installed RAM speed was 4800MHz, that's the maximum supported frequency and cannot be changed. As for the CL rate, the JEDEC standard CAS latency (CL) for DDR5-4800 RAM is typically CL40. CL37 is not a JEDEC standard timing for DDR5-4800. Retail modules with CL37 may exist as custom or overclocked variants, but these are not supported by laptops, so you should avoid purchasing them.

The best 32GB RAM kit (16GBx2) for your laptop would be Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR5-4800 SODIMM

In case you want to buy a 64GB RAM kit (32GBx2), get the Crucial 64GB Kit (32GBx2) DDR5-4800 SODIMM

    Model- CT2K32G48C40S5
