Hello!

I have an Aspire A515-54-36VC and I would like to upgrade the RAM. I have two slots. But I don't know how much ram could I add. I mean, the maximum amount. Right now I have 4Gb in one slot, and the other one is free.

According to the product support page I should have an HT Micron 2666 8Gb or SMART 2666 8Gb RAM.https://www.acer.com/es-es/support/product-support/A515-54/NX.HMDAL.00N/downloads?sn=NXHMDAL00NXXXX

Número de modelo: A515-54 36
Número de serie : NXHMDAL00NXXXX

Thank you very much for your support!

Best wishes,

Gonzalo

Since your Acer Aspire A515-54 has two slots, it supports a maximum of 20GB of RAM, with 4GB soldered (non-removable) onto the motherboard and upto 16GB ram can be installed in the available upgradeable slot.

Your laptop ram will be 4GB (onboard)+16GB (in removable slot)=20GB maximum supported.

As for the RAM, ensure you get modules with the same specifications as the pre-installed RAM. This includes matching the CAS latency (CL rate), frequency, voltage, and profile.

To verify your current RAM specifications, download and run CPU-Z. Then, please post a screenshot of the SPD tab here. This will allow me to check your RAM specs and recommend which RAM you should purchase.

Also, Open task manager then go to memory tab and post screenshot.

Just one last question, how many free memory slots do I have? 1 o 2 ?

    So, I could buy 2 x 8GB DDR4 2133 MHz or 1 x 16GB DDR4 2133 MHz ? or 2400 MHz ?

    aida64 report says I don't have any physical memory, right? I have 4GB on-board?

There is only one upgrade slot available, and you can add up to 16GB in that slot. As I mentioned earlier, the specifications of your new RAM should match those of the 4GB soldered RAM already installed in your laptop.

Check the SPD tab in CPU-Z to verify the specs. Whether you get a 1x16GB stick at 2133MHz or 2400MHz depends on the frequency of your soldered 4GB RAM.

It’s easy to find the right one—just make sure all the specs are the same. To be sure, match the frequency and also check the other specifications.

If you have trouble finding compatible RAM, post a screenshot of the SPD tab from CPU-Z, and I can help you choose the right RAM to buy.
