I have an ACER Aspire 1711 SMI with a display problem.

When it starts up it gives vertical lines every 6mm making it unable to read any error messages. It gives me a driver problem but I have updated the operating system and the NVIDIA driver but still the same. When I put on external thyat also has lines anybody have any ideas where to look????

Many Thanks in advance

i had the same problem with my aspire, i played rebooted and formatted the hard drive and the finally i read an article about the plug in under then plastic piece where you turn it on and the plug for the screen would not stay plugged in.

so i put duck tape on the plug and i have not had a problem with those lines any more.

Yes, I had already checked that one, maybe i need to check where it goes onto thye screen itself but its not easy getting to that but I need to give it a try. It very strange as the whole screen is full of these vertical lines but you can make out the pictures (seeing between the lines but not the words of the warning messages as there are too many lines...

thanks anyway maybe some of the other members have had similar experiences..
