The physical mute button on the F8 key of the Acer Predator Helios 16 may not be working due to a few reasons: driver issues, incorrect BIOS settings, or potential hardware problems. Troubleshooting steps include updating audio drivers, checking BIOS settings, and potentially testing with an external keyboard. Troubleshooting Steps:-

    1. Restart your laptop:
A simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches.
    2. Check Audio Settings:
Ensure the correct audio output device is selected in Windows sound settings and that the volume is not muted or set too low.
    3. Update Audio Drivers:
Outdated or corrupted audio drivers can cause issues. Go to Device Manager (Windows Key + X, then Device Manager), expand "Audio inputs and outputs", right-click your microphone and select "Uninstall device". Restart your laptop to allow Windows to reinstall the driver.
    4. Check BIOS Settings:
Restart your laptop and enter BIOS settings (usually by pressing F2 or F10 during startup). Look for a setting related to "Function Key Behavior" or "Hotkey Mode" and ensure it's set to "Action Keys Mode" or similar, allowing direct F-key functionality without needing the Fn key.
    5. Test with External Keyboard:
If available, connect an external keyboard and check if the F8 mute button functions correctly. If it does, the issue might be with the laptop's internal keyboard.
    6. Consider Hardware Issues:
If the problem persists, there could be a hardware fault with the keyboard or the audio system itself. In this case, contacting Acer support or a qualified technician is recommended.
