Hello, can anyone help me with my problem in my laptop's touchpad? Ever since updating my travelmate|P from windows 10 to 11 my touchpad doesn't work anymore. However, there are times when there is an update from windows 11 it will work again then it will stop working again. Could anyone tell me what to do? It's been very frustrating since I use my touchpad a lot.

If your cursor will not move or your touchpad is not working at all:-

    1. Remove connected devices - Remove all devices that are connected to the system except for the power cord. This includes external keyboard, mouse, flash drives, hard drives and other peripherals.
    2. Enable/disable your touchpad - Many systems allow you to turn the touchpad On or Off by pressing a key combination. On most models it is FN + F7 or FN + F2, but could also be a different function key. The touchpad function key will be labeled with one of the images below.
    3. Restart your computer - Restarting your system may help your touchpad start responding again.
    4. Reset BIOS or UEFI to default settings - Some systems have touchpad settings in the BIOS/UEFI.
    5. Reinstall touchpad drivers - Missing or incorrect drivers may cause your touchpad to not work properly. You can try downloading and installing the latest driver from our Acer Drivers and Manuals page. You may need to attach an external mouse to complete this process.
    6. Restore Windows- Newer versions of Windows allow you to restore your operating system without losing your personal data. Make sure you select the option to Keep my files.

If you can move your cursor but are having problems with cursor speed, erratic behavior or tapping and clicking:

    1. Adjust touchpad sensitivity - If your cursor is moving too fast or too slow, you can try changing your touchpad sensitivity.
    2. Disable tap to click - Accidentally making contact with the touchpad when typing can cause the cursor to jump around or leave the window.

That's not the model. Check the Acer Care Center and tell me the model number. Or there might be a sticker on the back of your laptop that should have the model number written on it.

There have been literally hundreds of different TravelMate P series laptop over the years. We can't even get close to answering your question without knowing a bit more about the system. Since you have installed Windows 11 we know it likely have a 9th gen or newer chipset, which means it's not much over 5-6 years old. Other than that, we really need to see the full model number. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like TMP6xx-xxx-xxxx. Your image shows that it used to see a Synaptics device, which was likely the touchpad. It also shows that one device is throwing an error, the I2C HID Device. Bring up it's properties and tell us what the error is. You could try uninstalling that and rebooting to force the OS to reinstall, that often fixes it if it's a configuration issue.

My mistake, I thought the model was travelmate. The real model of my laptop is TMP214-52-3235

OK, the P214-52 models are 10th gen Intel based from 2020. They actually used two different touchpads on these, though they are the same functionally they use different drivers. What we likely need to do is get that I2C device back working then look at whether the touchpad is fixed or needs more care. First download and install the IO Drivers from Acer's website for your OS. Next in Device Manager, delete the I2C HID Device shown in your original screen shot if it still showing the error. Then use the Actions menu at the top to scan for hardware changes. Between those tasks the I2C HID device should go back to normal. If the touchpad is still not working at that point we will have to figure out which one it is so we can replace those drivers as well. Look back in Device Manager to see if you have anything different throwing an error…
