Power supply doesn't connect securely on Acer Nitro 17 Laptop AN17-41-R7G3

The power supply on the Nitro 17 has never connected properly.

It doesn't click into place. It just sort've "hangs" out the jack on the back. If I move the laptop or jostle it in any way, and the plug moves more than about a 32nd of an inch, the laptop no longer gets power and I have to reseat it.

At the end of last year the power supply died. I replaced it, and its the same thing - any movement of the laptop and it loses power. If I jostle it any more than that, the charger cable will just fall out of the socket completely.

Oddly, I bought a Nitro V recently, it has the exact same power supply, but on the V the cable clicks and locks into place, and requires a small effort to disconnect, but the connection is good and tight.

The problem appears to be that the Nitro 17 has a rounded socket flange. The power supply has a raised lip, and it stops at the rounded socket and won't insert all the way.

I like the laptop, but its irritating to have to plug it in over and over every time I move around a little.

Is there some sort of adapter or something to make the charger connect properly to the laptop? I couldn't find an alternative power supply (needs 330 watts) and I am suspicious that the power supply died less than a year after I bought the laptop because of the constant arcing of the power supply disconnecting and reconnecting.

Thanks for your help!

Jim

Power supply doesn't connect securely on Acer Nitro 17 Laptop AN17-41-R7G3

The laptop DC port is damaged, The DC barrel plug port on the Acer Nitro 17 Laptop AN17-41-R7G3 is soldered onto the motherboard, which means replacing it would require advanced soldering skills and tools. Take the laptop to Acer Services in your country it may still be under warranty.
