How much storage an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-72-52PC) can handle?
My laptop is Acer Predator Helios Neo 16[ Intel® Core™ i5-14500HX processor ] (PHN16-72-52PC) I already have 512 Installed on my laptop (slot 1) On the site, it says on maximum memory: upgradeable to 1tb. For clarification, can i add another 1tb on slot 2 or only 512? Or does somebody tried to add above 1tb storage on slot 2, what happened? And what specs i will search for the storage. Thank you in advance!

Hi, the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-72-52PC) supports up to 4TB NVMe SSDs per PCIe M.2 slot. Users have successfully upgraded their storage with larger capacity drives, such as the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB.

just some additional information, as the PHN16-72 running windows 11 with the GUID (GPT) format theoretically in a windows operating system can operate with a max total of up to 8 petabytes (1 petabyte = 1000TB) of hard drive capacity, so you will have no problems installing the highest M.2 SSD drives which these days are from 4TB to the largest available that is 8TB, if you want to have that much storage. Good luck.

When comparing the Samsung 980 Pro and 990 Pro SSDs, several factors come into play, including performance, thermal management, and power efficiency.
Performance: The Samsung 990 Pro offers superior sequential read and write speeds, reaching up to 7,450 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s, respectively. In contrast, the 980 Pro tops out at 7,000 MB/s read and 5,000 MB/s write. Both drives use PCIe 4.0 technology.
Thermal Management: The 990 Pro features enhanced thermal control with a nickel coating on the controller and a heat spreader label, which helps maintain cooler temperatures compared to the 980 Pro. In some tests, the 990 Pro ran about 6 degrees Celsius cooler than the 980 Pro.
Power Efficiency: The 990 Pro is designed to be more power-efficient, consuming less power than the 980 Pro, especially during idle states. This is thanks to its advanced 8nm controller, which improves power efficiency by up to 50%.
Overall, the Samsung 990 Pro is a better choice for those seeking top-tier performance and thermal efficiency, while the 980 Pro remains a solid option for those on a budget or with less demanding needs.
If both SSDs prices are little bit up and down then I recommend going for 990pro due it's thermal and efficiency improvements.

Hi, this is a comparison of the 2 SSDs: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB vs Samsung 990 Pro 1TB: What is the difference? The 990Pro is $50 cheaper and runs faster. Have a look at the new 990 Evo Plus 4TB that runs cooler than the 990Pro and does not require a large heatsink, just a thermal wrap, better for gaming laptops.
