AN515-55 why does my acer laptop turn on but the screen is black

Hello, I have a 3 year old Acer Nitro 5 laptop,

Model #: AN515-55

I was playing a game last night on a discord call sharing my screen, and all of a sudden my laptop screen turned off out of nowhere and I don't think the laptop it's self turned off just the screen. So then I held down the power button for 10-20 seconds, it turned the laptop off but when I turned it back on, it turned on but not the screen, the screen is black. The blue light that indicates the laptop is turned on, is on. What should I do? Is there something I can do myself? (It also does the blue screen of death sometimes but that's not the issue right now).

Do a hard reset of the laptop by doing this:

Hard Reset - Remove the eleven (11) screws securing the lower case to the upper case of the AN515-55 laptop, starting from the upper side, pry to release the upper side latches, continue releasing the remaining latches. Then remove the lower case.

Disconnect the main battery cable from the mobo and take the main battery out. then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and then short the batteries + & - pins mobo plug to reset CMOS (as shown below) and then take the ran out.

Leave the laptop like that for at least 15 min so that the EC and chipset chips reset and then reconnect everything, if you have 2x ram modules, only connect 1x ram module and alternate the two ram modules and see if its not the ram that is faulty, as afterwards the laptop should turn on and boot properly.

If the hard reset doesn't work then you could have a shorted NVidia gpu that its mosfet that filters high current has shorted out and allowed a high 19V current to fry the gpu or the gpu's vram is fried and you either replace the mobo with a new gpu or get a tech to disable this gpu so that your laptop can work on the cpu graphics.

Good luck and hope this guide helps you out, as it worked with my Nitro AN515-56 laptop when this exact thing happened also, the pressing of the power key for 10 seconds or the F7 or Fn+F7 keys will do nothing so don't attempt that.

Press the F7 or Fn+F7 keys and see if the screen comes on, if not boot to BIOS with F2 and see if that works or connect to an external Monitor/TV if that works you may have a screen or cable hardware problem and should bring the laptop to Acer Services in your country for checking.

Turn off the laptop by holding the power button for 10-20 seconds, disconnect the charger and any connected peripherals, and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual power. Afterward, reconnect the charger and turn the laptop back on. Additionally, try connecting the laptop to an external monitor using an HDMI cable. Hey Diya1811, pressing the power key for 30sec either way does NOTHING and/or work on these laptops when their EC, Chipsets or bios are frozen and you get a black screen at boot, as in 90% of cases, they need a compete reset like a hard reset (if that doesn't work then its either an eDP or screen or at worse a an NVidia gpu issue) I know because I owned and have used a Nitro AN515-56 model since 2021 and the same has happened to my Nitro a few times, and a hard reset fixed this problem every time and the laptop reboots and works perfectly always. Its confusing to add a solution that has been stated that it doesn't work and has been tried and didn't work, don't you read the other post answers on these posts?
