Why do i keep getting random BSODs?

Hello!, so lately i have been getting random BSODs saying CRITICAL PROCESS DIED when i checked the Reliability Monitor reports thats what i get:

so i asked, chatgpt and google and they said its a GPU problem (Nvidia GTX 960) and i need to check for Driver updates However, i checked all that and everything was up to date and i even did SFC scan, DISM and clean windows install but the problem still persists, untill i have came across a post with a similar problem on the Microsoft forums and they said in the end that their problem was solved when they changed their motherboard and i will quote them "After so much efforts and time spent, I’ve finally figured this one out: the very cause of this and several other minor issues affecting my PC all this time was my motherboard (ASUS Rampage V Edition 10). I just bought an ASROCK Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7"

My motherboard is Acer B85H3-AM so do i really have to change my motherboard now? or is there a fix to this, please help

It would be really helpful if you would tell us what exact Acer model PC you have, is it a desktop or a laptop. As the OS version is for a Win-10 and the Microsoft forum solution is for a desktop, is that what you have? The BSODs Critical Error Died has many Microsoft solutions, and it means the process which was needed to run the system ended due to corrupted or missing system files, bad device drivers, virus attack, compatibility issues, bad sectors, etc. Follow the guide and do the below steps.

Step 1: Running SFC Scan on computer.

Step 2: Run DISM to repair corrupted windows image-Once SCF completes it scan, you need to run the below command one at a

Step 3: Run Check Disk on your computer

Do all the above and see if that solves this error code and BSOD.

The ECS B85H3-M V1.0 mainboard that you are using is not an Acer mainboard, the drivers for this mainboard are here at B85H3-M(V1.0) Driver / BIOS & Others Download so make sure that you have all the appropriate drivers installed as that can be a cause of BSODs also. This board can run Win-10 also.

The ECS B85H3-M mainboard has an Intel® B85 Chipset with an Intel Socket 1150 4th Gen cpu's and 4 x 240-pin 8GB DDR3 DIMM sockets support up to 32 GB @ DDR3 1600/1333 MHz SDRAM. Its got 2 x PCI Express x16 slots (one PCI Express Gen3 x16 slot & one PCI Express Gen2 x4 mode slot) 1 x PCI Express x1 Gen2 slot 1 x PCI v2.2 slot. You must use the exact spec ram and cpu for this mobo to operate properly, if you have faulty ram or a HDD or an OS then this can contribute to BSODs continually. Check your old hardware as it could be faulty and is the reason why your PC is getting BSODs. good luck and hope this helps you out to solve these problems.

Freezing, booting and power issues of a laptop from either operating system or hardware issue problems could come from many sources with in a laptop. The basic and first thing is to try and do a reset of your Nitro laptop completely (that is if you are computer savvy and know how to disassemble a laptop?) if you don't and your laptop is under warranty, then take it to your Acer Support. as you need to firstly do a hard reset. As all those symptoms that you have written and described above, are because your Nitro laptop windows or its graphics and other drivers and even a bios update is needed or it could be from other issues or a hardware fault but mostly corrupted drivers etc. that needs to be analyzed by Acer and/or an experienced technician.

Try doing a hard reset:- Remove the back case cover (undo the 11 screws) and from the top vents pry the back case open to wards you, as it should open.
Take the RAM out and disconnect the main battery and take it out of the laptop case.
Disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery (which is the little black round battery)
Clean the RAM pins and motherboard plug also, leave both of these batteries disconnected for 5 min to reset the laptop, as pressing the power button for 15 sec doesn't do a hard reset.
Reconnect the RAM first, then the RTC/BIOS battery and then the main battery, boot your laptop up (be patient as this could take up to 2min for your laptop to boot).

All the above steps should boot your laptop up without freezing but and if your OS is corrupted and has driver problems then you need to do a "Reset your PC-Keep my files" and then make sure that you update Windows to its latest updates (would help if you told us, which OS you are running?) update all the Intel integrated graphics, chipset and other drivers (best is to install the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant and scan your laptop) and also make sure that the NVidia graphics drivers are all up to date, as all this appropriately done should stop the software from freezing, otherwise there is a hardware problem that needs either Acer or an experienced technician to look at your laptop and analyze and fix it. Good luck and hope this solves your problems.

We don't have a cross reference (other than internet searches) as to which motherboards go with which models, except by Acer part number. B85H3-AM isn't an actual Acer part number, it's likely some sort of internal reference that's silk screened on the board. That internet search tells me your motherboard is likely a 4th gen Intel based board from around 2013. Is that correct? That would likely match up with the Nvidia GTX 960, which is around the same age. I believe if the issue were with the motherboard design, we would have heard a lot more about it during the last 12 years. Which Acer model do you have, and which power supply is installed? IIRC most of the normal desktops that might have used that MB would have had a 300W power supply, and the GTX 960 requires 400W to run in a stable configuration.

Hello and sorry for the late response, i am using a desktop pc yes and only my motherboard is Acer and i will attach my pc hardware details

i have done the steps you mentioned above but the problem still persists, i noticed that the longer i leave my pc on the less crashes i get, i have been trying to leave the pc on for as long as possible to try and figure out the exact frequency but somehow this magically fixed the problem slowly, at the time of the first post i would get BSODs every hour or so, now i get it every 6-8 hours and sometimes longer and nothing really changed except i gave my pc the silent treatment lol

Hey Axxo, this is what I mean with your answers to community members, as its the usual cut and paste answers that you do for most posts.

This community post from “MostafaMohy" is about " Why do i keep getting random BSODs? and its NOT about a laptop or a Nitro laptop and undoing its 11 back screws etc etc this is about a desktop mainboard in a desktop rig and its BSODs. Stop confusing community members with the same long book size answers Axxo, that you cut and paste and must have a collection of and you don't even read the post of what the question is about and you automatically past the same answers!
