Great alternative to Spatiallabs Player

As one can see from my several posts here, I've been struggling to find just the right combination of features in a media player to take advantage of my new Spatiallabs laptop. There have been many frustrations along the way as it seemed each media player was missing at least one feature that was crucial to my full immersive experience, and I've tried them all, all the usual suspects, VLC, MPC-HC, KM player, Stereoscopic player, Potplayer, etc., etc. All of them had at least one problem or another. The best of the bunch was the installed Spatiallabs player but it doesn't have a slo-motion feature…WHAT?

OK, so cutting to the chase, here's a setup I found that has everything? Ready?

  1. Download SMPlayer https://www.smplayer.info/
  2. Use the MPV engine instead of the MPlayer engine in preferences/general/video
  3. Download Smooth Video Player https://www.svp-team.com/
  4. Configure it to use the RIFE interpolation engine in SBS 3D mode
  5. Open up a half/SBS in SMplayer and enjoy.

What you're going to find is that the quality of the video playback is essentially identical to Spatiallabs player with minimal ghosting but also gives you full control not only over playback speed but also the ability to upgrade the framerate of the video to 60fps, 90fps, or even higher. Good luck and enjoy!

    Thanks for sharing this @jimdogma

The SpatialLabs technology and player are primarily focused on delivering a 3D viewing experience, and the playback speed controls are limited to the standard forward speeds.

It appears that the SpatialLabs Player, does not support slow-motion playback speeds, only allowing for speeds like 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, and 2.0x. but it doesn't include the ability to slow down playback to speeds like 50% or lower.

If you need to slow down videos for editing or analysis, you may need to use a separate video editing software or media player that supports slow-motion playback.

The best things about the Acer SpatialLabs Player are its ability to play side-by-side 3D videos and stream 3D content, its integration with the Acer SpatialLabs Eyes camera for real-time streaming, and its one-click 3D activation for games, all while offering a glasses-free 3D experience.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊
