Out of the box, my Acer Aspire A515-43-R19L has a 1 x 4gb DDR4 RAM with a speed of 3200mHz, but when I check in Task Manager, the MT/s in only at 2400mHz. Few years back, I bought a 4gb DDR4 3200mHz to pair it with my stock one.

Now, I am planning to upgrade to 2 x 8gb RAM, but I don't know which to get. Should I get the 2400mHz or 3200mHz?

I cannot seem to adjust the speed upon entering BIOS, it won't let me adjust any settings or do anything.

Hi, the Acer Aspire A515-43 supports DDR4 RAM with a maximum clock speed of 2400 MHz. It can accommodate up to 32 GB of RAM across its two slots. If you're planning an upgrade, make sure to use compatible 2 x 8GB DDR4-2400 MHz SO-DIMM modules for optimal performance. 3200 MHz DDR4 modules will just downclock to 2400 MHz. DDR4 RAM speed is typically advertised in MT/s, not MHz (Megahertz). You're likely seeing 2400 MT/s (MegaTransfers per second) instead of 3200 MT/s because your RAM is running at its default JEDEC speed, which is often lower than the XMP (eXtreme Memory Profile) speed advertised. To achieve the 3200 MT/s speed, you need to enable XMP in your BIOS

The Acer Aspire A515-43-R19L does not typically have a dedicated XMP profile setting in its BIOS, as it's a budget-oriented laptop and not designed for overclocking or advanced RAM settings. For a 3200 MT/s kit, the JEDEC speed is often 2133 or 2400 MT/s.

here's the memory specification supported for your laptop.

    The A515-43 comes with PCIe Gen.3x2 8Gbits/s 3.3V ±5% 512GB M.2 and with either a KINGSTON BU-SNS8154P3/512GL or a WD SDAPNUW-512G-1014.

Thanks! I'm sorry and yes it really is MT/s. I am planning to upgrade my laptop. I get it that my laptop can handle DDR4 with a max of 32gb (16x2).

If I am to upgrade to a RAM of 2 x 8gb, what is the maximum size for both my SSDs (I have a 128gb m.2 NVMe and an 128gb SSD SATA installed) that can be operated or handled by my 2x 8gb RAM??

I usually just do general media consumption, multitasking (like opening multiple files or windows at the same time), Zoom meetings, it's like basic use, but I want it to be faster/less laggy.

Considering my processor and currently installed drives/memory, what can you recommend for more smooth and lag-free everyday use?

Upgrading to 16 GB of RAM will likely significantly improve performance, especially if you frequently run multiple programs or demanding applications. With two 128 GB SSDs, your storage capacity is sufficient, but you might consider a larger SSD or an additional drive for larger files or if you use it for gaming.

Upgrade your laptop with 2 x 8GB RAM (16GB total) to enable dual-channel memory, ensuring better performance for multitasking and media consumption. Upgrade your 128GB SATA SSD for more storage capacity. Keep your laptop clean and maintain cooling to avoid throttling, ensuring smooth everyday use.

All of these noted! Do you also recommend upgrading my m.2 NVMe PCIe?
