Out of the box, my Acer Aspire A515-43-R19L has a 1 x 4gb DDR4 RAM with a speed of 3200mHz, but when I check in Task Manager, the MT/s in only at 2400mHz. Few years back, I bought a 4gb DDR4 3200mHz to pair it with my stock one.

Now, I am planning to upgrade to 2 x 8gb RAM, but I don't know which to get. Should I get the 2400mHz or 3200mHz?

I cannot seem to adjust the speed upon entering BIOS, it won't let me adjust any settings or do anything.

Hi, the Acer Aspire A515-43 supports DDR4 RAM with a maximum clock speed of 2400 MHz. It can accommodate up to 32 GB of RAM across its two slots. If you're planning an upgrade, make sure to use compatible 2 x 8GB DDR4-2400 MHz SO-DIMM modules for optimal performance. 3200 MHz DDR4 modules will just downclock to 2400 MHz. DDR4 RAM speed is typically advertised in MT/s, not MHz (Megahertz). You're likely seeing 2400 MT/s (MegaTransfers per second) instead of 3200 MT/s because your RAM is running at its default JEDEC speed, which is often lower than the XMP (eXtreme Memory Profile) speed advertised. To achieve the 3200 MT/s speed, you need to enable XMP in your BIOS

The Acer Aspire A515-43-R19L does not typically have a dedicated XMP profile setting in its BIOS, as it's a budget-oriented laptop and not designed for overclocking or advanced RAM settings. For a 3200 MT/s kit, the JEDEC speed is often 2133 or 2400 MT/s.

here's the memory specification supported for your laptop.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊
