Iconia W500 - Touchscreen faulty

We have had a pair of W500 tablets since October 2012. We upgraed the OS to W8 earlier this year.

On one of them the touchscreen has always been a bit hit and miss. Lately the screen will not repsond to touches in the centre of the screen. Also, it tends to register the touch (in other areas of the screen), slightly off target from the actual touch position.

Is this a calibration issue, is the screen faulty?

Any comments would be welcome, as ever!

Try calibrating it and see if it helps.  If it isn't what it should be go back to defaults and see if it works.

Thanks for your speedy reply. Could you remind me on how to calibrate the screen please?

Control Panel, Touch PC Settings. There should be a calibrate button.

Right, calibrated the screen, still the same.

It's just the central part of the screen that doesn't respond. The calibration process only requires responses from the outer edges of the screen, nothing in the centre.

    Ho humm...

Time to get on to Acer, just few days left of the warranty!!!

Yes, sounds like the touch screen is bad, calibration can give some strange results.  If you have a screen protector on it that can also give some strange results but if not Acer is the place to call!
